prompt: we're in between classes, and we both hear a fourth year calling a first year a mudblood, and neither of us are having any of that prejudiced bullshit. unfortunately, my impulse was to hex them, and yours was to punch them in the face, and my jelly-legs curse hit you instead, i'm really sorry, and we both are probably getting detention now, but hey, plus side, you're kinda cute.

Percy rushed around the corner, crashing into a robed stranger before he could skid to a stop. He looked up to see a pair of grey, piercing eyes staring into his own.
"Wise Girl. I see you're still a teacher's pet." He stepped away from her disgruntled form and gestured towards the Prefect badge on her pristine uniform. "And I see that you're still an insufferable ass who's late to class yet again." She snapped at him.
Percy started to back away, arms raised up in defence, "Hey, I still have three minutes. I'll make it if I run. And what about you, oh great and mighty Annabeth Chase who prides herself on never being late? If I remember correctly, you're in my next class as well." He smirks at the faint blush he's managed to pull from her.
"I had official prefect work to attend to—which, might I add, you have no business poking your nose into." She replies in a stiff voice. "Now, if you excuse me, I have to get to class. Enjoy dallying around these empty corridors while I have fun learning how to perfect my Vanishing Spells."
𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘥𝘴. 𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴? 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘯 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨! Percy's brain screamed at him.
"Shut up." He growled. "Excuse me? Do you know who you're talking to?" The same feminine voice that had somehow invaded his every thought spoke to him with a sharp tone of anger. His normally sharp and witty mouth chose this time to clam up. Great. Just great.
"I-I wasn't, um—"
They both looked at each other in alarm when a sharp squeal reached their ears. Was there a troll or a stray monster attacking a lone student? It certainly wouldn't be the first time. Running towards the source of the sound, they found a skinny and pale Slytherin towering over a wide-eyed, curly-haired first year. Percy privately thanked them for the distraction from what was surely going to be the start of endless teasing for him.
"You filthy little 𝘮𝘶𝘥𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥." The older boy spat.
Out of the corner of his eye, Percy saw Annabeth tense. He knew this subject was especially touchy to her since she was a muggleborn as well. While his brain was registering all that, his body had acted on its own accord and pulled out his wand.
"Let her go, Octavian." Annabeth said in a warning tone she usually only reserved for Percy.
"Or what? You gonna curse me? The straight-A student who had just recently been given the Prefect position?" The boy, Octavian, sneered. Gods, he was really starting to get on Percy's nerves. But since he was asking for it...
"Locomotor Wibbly!" Percy twirled his wand in the air and pointed it at—Annabeth? He barely had time to shout at her, tell her to "Watch out!" before his jelly-legs curse hit her straight in the back.
Oh, crap. He's really messed up this time.

Annabeth woke to see a dark-haired, sleeping boy next to her bed.
𝘏𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴 𝘴𝘰 𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘦'𝘴 𝘢𝘴𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘱. 𝘏𝘦'𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘦, 𝘵𝘰𝘰. She felt her cheeks heat up a bit.
Oh, gods. She shouldn't be thinking like this about him. This was Percy, after all. Everyone knows the kind of person he is. The kind that's doomed to get you into trouble.
She heard a loud yawn come from Percy's mouth and scrambled to find an excuse to cover up the fact that she was staring at him like an idiot. Then a thought struck her mind.
"What are you doing?! Boys aren't allowed in the girls' ..." She shrieked, her hands reflexively reaching up to cover the top half of her body.
Wait. This wasn't her dorm. Why was she in the infirmary? "Seaweed Brain. What did you do?" She asked, a slight note of accusation in her voice. This was exactly why she couldn't have a crush on him. He looked at her with wide eyes when he realised that he would have to explain what happened. "I may have hit you with a jelly-legs curse that was meant for Octavian." He mumbled under his breath.
"And after you punched him in the face, which was awesome, by the way, you may have fallen to the ground and hit your head and blacked out. So I had to carry you to the infirmary. And we may have gotten detention for a month. I am very very very sorry. Please do not kill me." He started talking louder and rambling when Annabeth didn't say or do anything except for stare at him blankly for a few moments.
"Cursing is prohibited in Hogwarts. You could've been expelled, you dumbass!" She smacked his arm lightly. Percy relaxed a bit when he saw that she wasn't totally freaking out.
"It was definitely worth it to see Octavian's stupid face contort in terror and make him run away like a little girl." Percy snickered. "Besides, I couldn't let him get away with calling the first year a mudblood."
Annabeth tried to hide the gigantic smile on her face but Percy had already seen it. He sat on her bed and leaned close to her face. Closer than anyone had ever dared to before. Annabeth's breath hitched and he broke into his trademark smirk.
"You like me, Wise Girl." Percy had a shit-eating grin on his face and gods, she would be lying if she said that he wasn't cute as hell.
"Fine. Maybe you're not as bad as I thought you were, Seaweed Brain."
