Annabeth Chase had always wondered about her strange soulmark, but she was a busy girl, and never had time to really stop to think about it. Her whole life, she was brought up with the idea that having ambitions and plans was the most important. That's why Annabeth didn't really want to meet her soulmate. From what she'd heard, uniting with her other half could mean catastrophic disaster for her life plan: surviving all the stages of college, excelling at her studies, becoming an architect for the richest people in the world, making loads of money and hopefully, to never even see her soulmate during the course of all these events. She had never even glanced her own soulmate, much less let anyone see it, in fear that once she looked at the dam thing, her soulmate would immediately appear.
Percy Jackson was an old-school romantic and had always loved the idea of soulmates. As a child, his mother, Sally, would tell him all about how she met his father. Sally Jackson was an exceptional case; she had two soulmates and had already met both of them. The first was Percy's father, Poseidon, and the second was an English teacher at Percy's old school, Paul Blofis. Even though Poseidon had died in a boating accident not long after they met, they both held a special place in Sally's heart. Because of his mother's constant talk about soulmates and soulmarks, Percy developed an almost painful longing for the day he would finally hear the words, "They're called blueprints, Seaweed Brain." Sure, the words themselves were a bit weird (and rude), but he believed that the fates would pair him up with his best match and he decided not to worry about it too much.
The two of them couldn't be more different, and yet the universe had paired them together, deeming them a perfect fit.

Ding-a-ling! The doorbell jingles merrily as Annabeth enters her favourite place to study, The Blue Biscuit. The owner, Sally Jackson, is a kind woman who treats everyone like family. Because of that and the fact that all of their food was blue, The Blue Biscuit slowly became one of the most popular cafés in New York.
"Annabeth!" Sally greets her with a warm smile. "How was school, sweetie?"
"Exhausting," Annabeth replies, a little worn out from the intensive coursework at uni. Don't get her wrong, she loves her major and she loves the homework, but it can be a little tiring at times.
Sally frowns. "You know what would make you feel better? A freshly baked blueberry muffin. And a bluemonade."
"You're not wrong," Annabeth gives the older woman a grin and begins to set out her blueprints. She's tired, but she's still hard working. Drew Tanaka may be talented, but she's not gonna get anywhere if she doesn't work as hard as Annabeth does all the dam time.
Before Sally heads to the kitchen, she spins around so quickly Annabeth fears for her neck bone. "Oh! Before I forget," she starts, excitement bubbling. "My son Percy's starting to work here today as a barista. He's trying to save up to buy a new car and I'm not letting him have it so easy. He's your age, I think. Maybe you'll get along, maybe you won't." She winks and disappears behind the blue kitchen curtains.
Annabeth's heard of Percy on numerous occasions before- mostly just because Sally loves gushing about her one and only son, and she can't deny the fact that she's curious as to what he looks like. If he's anything like his mother, he must be good looking. Decent, at least.
After roughly fifteen minutes of waiting and studying, she hears the familiar ding of the oven. Sally's blueberry muffins are absolutely godly- and she wants to enjoy them properly, so she makes space on the table for the dish.
She hears hustling and frantic whispers of "Mom! Stop it!" behind the blue curtains and a second later, a black haired boy stumbles into the open, tugging at his blue apron and awkwardly balancing a plate of muffins on his hand.
Annabeth raises an eyebrow. So that's Percy.
He nearly trips on his shoelaces and he yelps before finally placing the plate onto her table. He looks so incredibly sheepish Annabeth tries with all her strength not to face palm.
"So, uh, you like maps?" he asks, gesturing towards her homework.
Annabeth looks up at him with a blank expression on her face. "They're called blueprints, Seaweed Brain." She deadpans.
And then it happens.
His eyes (sea green, she notices) goes so big she thinks they're going to pop out of his head.
"What?" She asks in a perfectly nonchalant tone. "Are you okay?"
Percy shakes his head and leans back in disbelief. Annabeth thinks he's insane.
"You- you're my... you're-"
"Do you need me to get your mom?"
"You're- you're my soulmate."
Annabeth freezes. No no no no NO. Not him. Not now. Not ever.
She frantically lifts her sleeve up and scours for her soul mark, and there it is in all its glory: so, you like maps?
No.
