TJ's POV: the drive from Hardin to Lincoln County New Mexico was a quiet one hardly any of us talked Bobby and I were sitting in the backseat while Travis and Daren were sitting upfront with my dad who was driving Carter was laying between me and Bobby his head was laying on my lap I was stroking his fur while listening to music I love music mostly 1950's Rock&Roll Bobby doesn't mind it but my dad and two older brothers do mind it they hate it I had earbuds so they wouldn't have to listen to it I was looking out the window when I felt a tap on my shoulder I turned to see Bobby telling me to take the earbuds out of my ears so that I could hear what he's saying so I did

How do you feel about the move from Hardin to Lincoln TJ? He asked

I just shrugged my shoulders as if I didn't care but to be honest I really didn't want to move but I had no choice so I had to suck it up and deal with it before we all knew it we came to ahead with a sign that read Welcome To Lincoln County New Mexico

We're here boys my dad announced with pride in his voice

I just slumped back in my seat feeling unhappy about this whole situation of moving here I wished we stopped at Fairview before we left but we didn't there really wasn't much of the town really Dad said that we're basically living outside of town about 5 miles out at our old house we lived 12 miles out of town but 5 miles wouldn't be so bad to walk to and from town it was the middle of February so I had to go to school on Monday and I was going to hate it Bobby had already graduated from high school and so did my two old brothers all three of them were lucky I'm the youngest one of my family I'm 16 but I'll be turning 17 on May 12th that's a day before my favorite Rock&Roll singer's birthday my favorite Rock&Roll singer of all time of course is Ritchie Valens his birthday is a day after mine May 13th is his birthday I was listening to his music the whole trip here I'm actually the same age as he was when he died in a plane crash on February 3rd as we drove to our new house I looked out the window again then we finally pulled into the driveway of our new house

I just slumped back in my seat feeling unhappy about this whole situation of moving here I wished we stopped at Fairview before we left but we didn't there really wasn't much of the town really Dad said that we're basically living outside of town ...

We all piled out of the station wagon and took a look around I clipped Carter's leash on his collar and lead him out of the station wagon

Well what do you boys think of this place? Dad asked

It's pretty nice dad Travis said

I like it Daren chimed in

It's pretty good Kale Bobby added

"TJ how about you? "what do you think? My dad looking at me

It's okay I guess I replied shrugging my shoulders and looking around the place
