*Brad's POV*

When Mya told me that she feels good with me I couldn't help but hide my joy. I wanted to answer her but the waiter came before I could say something. He gave us our drinks and took our order. Once Charlie is gone, I asked her to give me more information about her life. So I learned that she has one brother and one sister, that she studies science... Then I wanted to know how long she had known us. I'm glad to hear that we helped her to hold on. But hold on for what... I decided to ask her.

"Hold on for what?" I say

I think she didn't want me to talk about it because her smile disappeared immediately. But a few seconds later, she gets a hold of herself and answers "I don't like to talk about it because it's an event from which I suffered a lot. And I still suffer today. So 5 years ago, my dad had to take me somewhere for a surprise but he didn't do it... "

"So that's why you don't like surprises!" I say, finally understanding her reaction earlier.

"Yes I think so but I'm sure he would have taken me there if nothing had happened..." She replies with a hint of sadness in her voice.

"Why? What happened?" I say wanting to know his misfortune.

"A few days after my birthday, my dad came back from a trip for work and he planned a surprise for me. But on the evening of his return, he collapsed and we had to call the rescue. My mom left with my dad and I stayed at home with my brother and my sister. I was so worried. Then the next morning my mom told us that our dad was very sick and that he might not get out. When I learned that, my world fell apart and I spent my days with my dad. A few days later he died. That's why I don't like surprises anymore." She tells me a little distressed. "Can we stop talking about this? I would like to have a good time."

I really grieve for y/n... She didn't deserve to live something like that. Despite that, I hope to make her spend an evening that she will not soon forget.

"I'm so sorry." I answer her "Of course! I don't want you to be sad."

"Thank you" she says "it's my turn! What about you?"

"Well... I think you already know a lot about me." I reply, a smile on the corner of my lips

"Yes, Maybe. You were born in Sutton Coldfield, you have a sister called Nathalie, you hate roller coasters, your favorite fruit is kiwi... But I want to know something that only your loved ones know, something personal." She says staring at me intensely.

"I see that you know a lot about me." I answer laughing

"That's not the point" she replies rolling her eyes "it's serious!"

"Alright, alright..." I say, thinking about what I could tell her.

*Mya's POV*

Telling him my story with my dad was not easy. I had to take it upon myself not to burst into tears with each word that came out of my mouth. Fortunately, when I asked him to stop talking about this, he was understanding and we moved on. So I asked him, in turn, to tell me about him.

"When I was in high school, I was in love with the most popular girl. At the beginning, I didn't exist in her eyes, but after she got closer and closer to me. We flirted together and one evening I invited her to a restaurant. I was going to ask her to be my girlfriend but she never showed up. I thought she was scared or sick so I didn't really care. The next day I saw her with another guy and everyone was making fun of me. I didn't understand why people laughed when I passed by them. But I eventually understood...she was playing with me from the beginning! " He says, looking at me a little ashamed. Then he continues "So now I'm afraid to live again in such a situation."

I feel really bad for him...

I hesitate to tell him what I have in mind but I take it on myself and do it "I'm so so sorry for that... I would never do that to you. I know the pain too well to make it known to someone else."

I get up from my chair and walk over to him. Now I feel at ease so I don't hesitate to hug him.

I think he didn't expect it but he smiles at me and with an almost inaudible voice, he says "thank you, Mya".

I don't answer him but we stay in this position until we are interrupted by the waiter who brings us our dishes. I settle in again, quickly, and thank Charlie before he leaves.

Brad and I are eating. Once we finished, Charlie came back and gave us the dessert menu. I choose a Panna Cotta and Brad, a Tiramisu.

In the meantime, I would like to know more about him. "Tell me something else about you" I say, giving him an irresistible smile.

"How can I tell you no if you look at me like that?!" he replies, amused "Well... I'm a little ashamed but it was a long time ago."
