"Kenma, pleaaase!" Hinata said over the phone in a high-pitched voice. He had been bugging Kenma for days now - texting him, calling him, texting other people asking them to tell him to call.
Needless to say, he was near his limits.
Kenma made an excuse to end the conversation, then stared at his phone for a good few minutes, trying to decide what he was going to do. He looked over at his PC and let out a long sigh.
He walked over to his desk and turned the PC on. Opening a new tab, he began searching for ways to open a private server. It wasn't that he didn't want to play Minecraft with Hinata. I mean, there were other games that were far more fun to play than Minecraft, but that's besides the point. It was just that, knowing Hinata, he would invite loads of other people onto the server, so Kenma just wanted to be prepared for that possibility. If he was going to run a server, he was going to run it properly.
He took out his phone and began to type a new message to Hinata.
Kenma: shoyo, I've set up a server. can you join in and help me see if it works?
His finger hovered over the send button. He sighed again, then hit send. Only a few seconds after sending the message, his phone lit up again.
Hinata: KENMAAA!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I'LL BE ON IN A SECOND, I JUST NEED TO TURN THE PC ON!! ( ◕ヮ◕)
Kenma stared blankly at his phone. He started to regret his decision, but he could see how excited Hinata was, so he smiled and turned the phone screen off, instead focusing his attention to the computer.
While he waited for Hinata, he made sure he had all the correct settings for the server in anticipation of it becoming hectic sometime soon.
Suddenly, a message popped up on the chat.
littlegiant has joined the game
Kenma spun his character around to see Hinata's character.
applepi: hey shoyo
littlegiant: HEY KENMA!! ( ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ
Hinata's character bounced up and down in place. Kenma grinned a little. Hinata's character suddenly stood still. Kenma assumed he was typing a message, so he waited patiently.
littlegiant: so kenma...I have a question ;;
applepi: yea?
Kenma's face scrunched up. 'Here it comes', he thought.
littlegiant: would it be okay to add some more people to the server?
littlegiant: it feels a little lonely having just the two of us in this tiny world ;;
Kenma covered his face with his hands. He knew it was coming, but the anxiety he felt kept growing. He didn't want to upset Hinata, and so he started typing a message reluctantly.
applepi: sure
littlegiant: :D
littlegiant: THANK YOU, KENMA!! BE RIGHT BACK
applepi: okay ;;
Kenma tapped his index finger on his desk nervously, staring at Hinata's motionless character on his screen. Suddenly, his phone lit up again.
His face scrunched up again when he unlocked his phone. Hinata had made a group chat and Kenma watched hopelessly as he saw the list of added contacts increase. Some were numbers he recognised - like Kuroo's and Bokuto's numbers. Others were ones he didn't have on his phone.
Finally, after a few minutes, the numbers stopped coming through and Hinata sent a message.
Hinata: Hey everyone! This is Hinata. Kenma opened up a Minecraft server so that we can all play together! (◕‿◕ )
An unfamiliar number started typing.
Unknown: Aww, what a lovely idea! I'm not very good at video games, but I'll try and pop in from time to time!
Kenma's finger started tapping the desk faster. The same number then sent another message.
Unknown: By the way, this is Sugawara Koushi from Karasuno! I'm not sure everyone here knows that since I can see some numbers I don't recognise! ^^;;
Hinata: Oh yeah, that's a good point! Maybe everyone should introduce themselves?
One by one, people started typing brief messages to tell everyone who they were. Some examples included:
Bokuto: Hey hey hey! This is Bokuto Kotaro from Fukurodani!
Unknown: This is Azumane Asahi from Karasuno. I look forward to playing with you all! ^^;;
Unknown: Tsukishima Kei.
The messages became less frequent as more people introduced themselves. Kenma added as many people as he could to his contacts list for future reference, since he figured it would only get more confusing as more people joined. It seemed that the only people currently in the chat were people from the Karasuno, Fukurodani and Nekoma teams.
Sugawara: Is that everyone?
Nishinoya: Who's the last number?
Kenma panicked once he realised he was the only one that hadn't introduced himself.
Kuroo: C'mon Kenma, isn't this meant to be your server?
Sugawara: Oh, so [number] is Kenma?
Kenma quickly typed out a message.
Kenma: yes, this is kozume kenma ;;
Sugawara: Thank you for making this server! I know Hinata has been talking about this to us non-stop - I hope it wasn't too much trouble! ^^
Kenma: it's fine ;;
Kenma looked back up on his screen. It seemed like only two people had joined the server. Their usernames were anonymousneko and aceowl. He already recognised the first name as being Kuroo, and he gathered the second username belonged to Bokuto.
He suddenly got a private message on his phone from Kuroo.
Kuroo: Hey, are you sure you're okay with this? A big server full of people doesn't really seem like your thing ;;
Kenma: it's fine. it's mostly just for shoyo anyway.
Kenma: i'll make myself scarce
Kuroo: Ok, but if things get too much let me know.
Kenma: okay.
Kenma looked back up to the PC. He once again signed, then put his hands on his keyboard and mouse.
"Well," Kenma started saying aloud. "Let's see how this plays out."
