i personally think a study book can be extremely helpful when studying. it's not the same as a notebook.

a study book is a book for organisation and revision mainly. there are many ways you can lay out a study book, present it ect but, i personally like mine all organised like this.

you can organise them by on your first page writing all your subjects and then colour coding the subjects with a colour. then on your pages you can write in your title when you start revising for a test ect. always make sure that in the margin you put your subject colour. a few other things i find handy to have on the page is; the date, if it's studying for a test the due date & how long it took you. it's also fun to add doodles that work with the subject.

if your still wondering how it's different from a notebook and why it's so important here. a notebook is a lot of the time pretty messy and scribbled down, a study book is sort of a place to write your notes in full sentences and to make them aesthetically pleasing to the eye. it's important to have a study book as it keeps them separate and just before a test you can grab it and look for the colour tab.

you can also decorate the outside of them to look cute! i recommend buying a book with squared paper, or a bullet journal to do it in. if it's no hard back i suggest covering it in sticky back plastic. to decorate them i personally find drawings, stickers and patterns/textures like marble printed out make them really stand out and look pretty. but if you'd prefer not to personalise it there will always be other things with designs already on them.
