"You're an idiot!" Remus shouted, raising his hands up.
With a wrinkled nose and forehead, he turned on his heel and, taking heavy, quick steps, moved away from the boy. "Stupid mongrel," he muttered under his breath, although he was throwing Sirius insults in his head, which described his stupidity.
"What did you do to him again?" James asked, looking at his friend with raised eyebrow. He and Peter appeared in the corridor the moment they only saw Lupin leave, nervous.
Sirius looked at his friends uncertainly, then looked away, biting his cheek from the inside. He mumbled a short and indistinct answer for which he was rebuked by them. Friends stared expectantly at him, almost drilling a hole in his forehead. Remus would probably comment so that through this hole you could put knowledge into his head.
Finally, Sirius sighed heavily and scratched the back of his head, ruffling his long hair. He knew perfectly well that he was at fault. Again.
"You know, the full moon is getting closer and Remi has fallen into a period again that he is devouring sweets, right? So, uh... I didn't say that on purpose!"
"Padfoot, you know perfectly well that Remus's increased appetite before fullness is taboo" Peter moaned in disbelief.
"What exactly did you tell him?" asked James.
"That if he continues to eat like this, he'll end up like the donut he ate. He will be round and fat." he answered terribly embarrassed by his stupidity and the fact that such words left his mouth at all.
James and Peter opened their eyes and mouth wider.
"You're an idiot."
"Definitely an idiot."
Later, everyone met in the living room and did their homework. Remus took his seat in armchair and read a textbook for defense against black magic. He was leaning the book on his knees, and he was holding a small packet of candy on his stomach. Sirius with James and Peter were sitting on the couch together thinking about tasks of transmutation. At one point a curled, small piece of parchment bounced off the Moony's chest. He frowned and unfolded the paper and read the well-known writing.
"You are sweet as a candy"
Lupin crushed the parchment into fists and looked at Sirius.
"Do you want some candy?" he asked with a frown, at what Paw looked at him with raised eyebrows. Immediately afterwards Remus threw one of the candies at the boy, which bounced off his forehead. James couldn't stop a loud snort, and Peter covered his mouth with his hand to hide the soft laugh.
In the evening only Remus stayed in the bedroom. He lay on his bed with the curtains closed. He read the book, lighting the pages with his wand. Although he was not that angry at Padfoot anymore, he was already fed up with Sirius' stupid attempts to comfort him. He always made fun of them all without much thought, and then desperately tried to fix the situation. It would be enough for him to apologize instead of coming up with stupid ideas.
Suddenly one of the curtains was slightly exposed, and a black-haired boy crept into the cramped, dark space. Remus already wanted to shout at Sirius that he would give him peace today, but ultimately he stared at him with interest, waiting for the next steps he would take. Black climbed onto the bed and lay down on it with his head resting on Lupin's stomach. There was still silence between them. The Moony didn't intend to speak first. He expected the second of them to finally get his hands on things properly.
"I'm sorry, Remi." A low voice broke the thick silence.
Remus sighed lightly.
"You really are a stupid mongrel," he said, yet he put the book aside and sank his fingers into the boy's thick hair. "If you do it again, I will throw at you a handful of the hardest candies I can find."
Sirius couldn't stop a slight snort. He rose and looked into the boy's eyes.
"You won't have to," he said, moving closer to Remus. "I promise it will never happen again," he said, then kissed him lightly.
Lupin closed his eyes for that short moment, then looked gently at Sirius.
"I always forgive you too easily," he muttered under his breath.
Black laughed slightly. He kissed him again.
