It was a sweet shiver that the voice caused to run down my spine.
He smiled and said "Sorry, Marshall gets really excited around people" as he walked towards us.
He smiled a big smile "Puppy!" he said excitedly kneeling down to gush over her, she had that affect on people. "Her name is Aria, she's fully grown." I said laughing.
He was playing with Aria like old buddies although a little comical to watch the two play considering the differences in size. I couldn't help but smile "It's fine, he's a lovely boy" Scratching Marshalls head, all the while trying to sneak glances at this man's face.
As he stood up, I couldn't help but notice his tanned skin from days under the sun, with broad shoulders and I wondered if he spent his days under the sun working or just naturally golden. His eyes were the colour of honey-wheat. He looked like a man that would fill a room with the way he stood tall with certitude.
The longer I stood with this man, the longer I wanted to stay and talk to him. But before I stood in my spot any longer I said hastily "well, nice to meet you both but me and Aria should go." He smiled a little smile and replied "you too!"
I walked away without looking back.
As soon as we did walk away from them I regretted not asking his name, the entire walk his image kept swimming into my mind.
Back in the car, upon checking my phone I noticed that I had a missed call from Grandpa, he'd left a message. Before, driving out of the parking lot I decided to listen to grandpas' message. "Hello Eliya darlin, I'm still at the office till about 9:30 tonight, I would like to invite you to dinner with your old man. Call me back at the office, I'll see you soon love."
Dinner with grandpa sounded like a good plan for the evening. I called him back to let him know I'd make it to dinner. Soon after the call I drove home with haste to prepare for dinner. Aria looked tuckered out from our walk on the passenger seat.
By the time I got back to my apartment the sun was beginning to set and just had enough time to prepare to go out. Knowing grandpa he will be inviting some of his associates to dinner and going to a fancy uptown restaurant in town, I'll have to dress to look the part.
So I decided on a navy and white Chevron dress, light enough fabric for spring, but sleeves and length appropriate for the occasion. I didn't want grandpa to knock out some poor guy for looking at me again.
As expected, grandpa had invited some of his business partners and their new case. The table had filled up with all the suits in black. Dinner at LaBlanc restaurant was top quality the conversations were not. Even though I am a business student, their conversations of business was driving me to boredom. Just when I was beginning to doze off I heard that baritone voice again a sweet shiver ran down my spine...
