my eyes flew open, darting around the room. the strong smell of smoke filled my nostrils, fire? my legs flung to the side of my bed as i ran to my bedroom door grasping the handle, "ahh" I let go as the boiling brass handle seared my skin. ' I have to get mum out' was all I could think about. I grabbed the handle again with my other hand and pushed the door open, heat blinding my vision. everything was on fire. I ran as fast as my legs would take my downstairs into my mums bedroom, the curtains were flaming down onto the doona cover. I pulled mum from her alight bed and through the front door. I sprinted to the next door neighbours and banged my fist as hard as I could, I had no idea who lived in this house as we were fairly new to the London neighbourhood. the door swung oped revealing a tall fit looking man with a baseball bat in his hand which he lowered once he saw my face. "PLEASE HELP US, OUR HOUSE IS ON FIRE!"
I screamed as the mans eyes darted outside and widened as he saw the house collapsing as we speak. "is there anyone in the house?" he shouted in a raspy tired voice.
"I got my mum out, but she isn't awake. tears brimmed my eyes .
"please do something!" his hand took mine as we ran from his doorstep to mine, he picked mum up quickly, but the veranda was collapsing and fire was still on everything including mums clothes. we ran across he road into his yard and he called an ambulance and the fire brigade. I ran to the sink and splashed as much water onto my mum as I could until her clothes were put out. I can't even believe this is happening. how did it start? we just bought this house! who is this man? how is this possible. I'm in so much pain. I ran to to wear ever these stairs were taking me and entered a room. it was the bathroom, I saw a mirror and walked over to it and couldn't recognise who I saw. my eyes where red and puffy with dark circles beneath them, my hair still up in a messy bun slightly burned in places, pyjamas burned with dirt covering them, hands and feet blistered with huge burned skin patches. I'm a mess.
