Axl met Kevin Lawrence not long after moving to LA, and joined his band rapidfire. They released a 4 song demo in 1983, which is an EP called 'ready to rumble'.
Axl was in Hollywood rose (also known as AXL (Axl's friends suggested he call himself Axl, as he quickly became engrossed in the band)) with Izzy Stradlin and Chris Weber, they released a 5 song demo. It's been released as an EP 'The roots of Guns N' Roses.'
He was also in L.A. Guns.
He joined with Tracii Guns in 1985, and formed a band by the name of Guns N' Roses. After several lineup changes, the band consisted of Slash, Duff, Axl, Izzy and Steven within a month.
