"Where are we going?" I asked my mother as we were driving down the highway. The rain was coming down pretty hard. You can hear the water pounding down on the windows as we drove.

"I wanted to show you something." she says quickly. She's holding a cigarette in her left hand slowly inhaling the deadly chemicals. I watch her as she puffs out the grey smoke while keeping her eyes on the road. I wince as she inhales again. The smell is giving me a headache.

"Are we almost there?" I ask impatiently. We have been in this car for way over an hour. I'm starting to get hungry. Hopefully where ever we are going there will be some food.

"Uhh... yes of course. Just a couple more minutes." she says. I cant help but think shes nervous. Her fingers are on her right hand are taping rapidly against the steering wheel. I choose to ignore it.

As I look out the window the scenery looks unfamiliar. Trees are everywhere, towering over everything in there way. The thin clouds masking the sun while the ran is still prickling from the sky. The car comes to a stop at the end of the dirt road.

"What are we doing in the middle of nowhere?" I ask

"I want you to use your abilities out here. Where you cant hurt anybody and you never know it could be fun." she says. She gets out of the car without another word. I follow her down the gravel path towards a pond.

She looks at the pond than towards something behind me and quickly averts her eyes towards me. Giving me a shy smile before saying " Ella, I want you to throw this rock as far as you can into that pond."

I look at the rock that she just put on the ground in front of me. It looked quite heavy but I knew I could do it. I give my mother a slight nod before I put my full concentration on the rock.

My head is pounding rapidly against my skull. I need to look away for my own sanity, the pain is excruciating. My eyes burn and my body is determined to fold in on myself.

All I see is red.

I keep my eyes focused on the heavy looking rock. Move, I thought.

It moved.

Blood started coming out from my ears and nose. I'm drained, the rock was heavier then I thought. I fall to my knees looking at my hands. They are so pale. I look up at my mother, still to weak to stand up.

She glances behind me before saying "You wanted proof? here is your proof. Take her she is a danger to all of us."

I feel strong hands grip my fragile arms as they try to yank me away.

"No! Don't-Don't touch me!" I scream. Tears start to form in my eyes as I kick my legs.

I try to fight them all off but I cant concentrate enough to do so. I feel so weak, so fragile and most of all so unworthy. I lock eyes with my mother her damp hair starting to stick to her forehead. With that, she walked into the rain and didn't look back.

That was the last time anyone ever saw her.
