"Dad! I'm going to check the mail!" Rani yelled to her father, who was busy in his office.
"Ok, honey!" her father yelled back.
He was always so busy with his Presidential work, that she probably could've said she was going to eat soap and he would've had the same response. The only thing that ever got his attention was if she wanted to leave the house. That was a big no!
Rani had been homeschooled since her mother disappeared when she was seven. Ever since then, her father had taken her out of school and homeschooled her. At first he was more lenient. He would let one of the maids take her somewhere every weekend whether it was shopping, going out to eat, or hanging out with her friends. Her privileges slowly started to decline, and now she was no longer allowed to go anywhere. Her father tried to compensate for making her stay locked away by letting her online shop anytime she wanted, but It was not the same. Anytime Rani would ask her father why she could no longer go to school or hang out with her friends she always got the same response, "You are a child of class, and I plan for you or your future husband to take my place one day. I will not let you be influenced by outer opinions and rumors." Rani eventually stopped asking and just excepted her sheltered life.
Rani, no longer able to go anywhere with her friends, slowly lost all of them. Her only friend's name is Fana, and she is her homeschooling teacher's daughter. Her father didn't really approve of Fana, but he knew that she needs some social interaction besides with his business partners.
Rani thought of what she considered to be her pitiful life story as she strolled to the mailbox. Opening it up, she grabbed the mail and began walking back to the house. Her father had many maids willing to get the mail, but Rani always offered to get it. It was her only way to get out of the house.
Rani flipped through the collection of envelopes, until she saw one addressed to her. She immediately stopped in the middle of her long driveway and tore it open. She couldn't believe her eyes when she saw who it was from...
