The violent torrent of rain forced Vixen to give up on her plans of revisiting the park in favour of staying in her cramped basement-bedroom. But, instead of drawing or writing, Vixen lay on her back, tossing a ball and thinking.

She thought of her mom, who had died of heart attack when Vixen was 10. She thought of her father, who had started drinking and picking women up from bars shortly after his wife had died. But, most of all, she thought of the boy from the park, with pale skin and a dark leather jacket.

"VIXEN CHANCIA HOPE!!!!!!!!!!!" Her father was stomping down the concrete steps that led to her 'room'. "What in God's name is this?!?!" He was holding his beer mug, gripping it so hard that his knuckles turned white.

"What's what dad?" He stormed over to Vixen, face tight and red with anger.

"You cracked it! You cracked my favorite mug!"

"The crack isn't that bad. Calm down." Her father's face turned a deeper shade of red as his rage grew.

"DON'T BACKSASS ME YOUNG LADY! No food for a week! No, let's make it two weeks for that 'Calm down' comment!" And with that,he stomped out of her room, locking the door behind.

Vixen shrugged it off. She could easily climb out her window for a bite. And right now, she was starving. Vixen pulled on her knee-high leather boots and clambered out of her small window in search of food.
