Everything was black still and silent. I began to open my eyes but it felt like the wait of the world was on my eye lids. When I was able to open them I slowly sat up. When I got up I had no clue where I was. As I looked to my right I saw Aleacea. To my left I saw Cassidy. Straight across from me was Zharia. Sitting next to her was Devin, and on her other side was Brianna. Next to Brianna was Kevin, and next to Devin was Deonte. Next to Kevin was Jacob. We were all sitting in a circle all of us strangely confused. None of us said a word. I could see Aleacea was terrified but she wasn't sure if she should run to me, Kevin, or Devin. Brianna starred at me trying to figure out what was going on but sadly I had no clue. Then there was a loud voice that came out the intercoms above us. "The goal isn't to just survive, it's to out smart the people sitting next to you. There is no time to save each other first you must save yourself. Remember, people turn on each other when their lives depend on it." After that the intercom when off and two doors opened. We were all scared and none of us wanted to go first but neither one of us wanted to stay there. For a moment we all starred at each other but soon Devin was the first to head for the door. We all quickly followed until we were all on the other side of the door and it closed behind us.
We were all jumbled in a big group and took short slow steps. We were in a place that looked like the top of a castle. There was a balcony and over it was a view of the lake. There was a beautiful brick gazebo. On it was a note. Brianna with her special self ran up and got it. Brianna brought the note back to use and it read: one of you must turn before the rest of you move on. "What the heck does that mean?" Asked Kevin. None of us could give him an answer. "Well the voice said people turn when their lives depend on it." Said Cassidy. "Your a smartical particle" said Brianna. Everyone was annoyed by that remark that she made. Zharia started yelling at her and looked like she was gonna hit her. "Hey hey hey we don't have time to fight, if we're going to get out of here we have to work together." I said stepping In between Brianna and Zharia. Jacob put the note in his back pocket and we kept walking. " I think the only way to get anything done is by splitting up." Said Cassidy. We all agreed and split up into 3 of 3. The groups were Devin,Aleacea, and Kevin. Deonte, Brianna,and Jacob. And the last group was me, Zharia, and Cassidy. We all went three different directions. Zharia, Cassidy, and I stayed where we were to see if anything was there. While we were looking an old woman came up to us. "Who are you?" I asked. "My name is Mrs. Glenda." She replied. None of us knew what to say or do so there was awkward silence. Then soon the silence was broken from Brianna's loud scream. We all ran to her to see what was wrong. "What's wrong?" Cassidy asked. "I yelled at Deonte and all of a sudden he vanished." Brianna said frantically. Then a door opened and we all stepped in. It was a white empty square room. "F*ck this" Aleacea said. And before anyone else could say something a man came in and said "Cussing isn't allowed in my maze! Who said it?" "It was me" Devin said. Aleacea looked at him in shock. "Your coming with me" the man said and took Devin away. Then we heard the intercom again. "Since you had an elimination you move one phase forward." When the doors opened we saw what looked like a house. Aleacea ran in and that's when I realized this was all too much for her to handle. I ran after her. She was hiding in a corner and I went and sat with her. "What's wrong?" I asked. Instead of saying anything she just hugged me really tightly. As she hugged me I looked off into the distance and saw Mrs. Glenda. I had a very bad feeling about her. I tapped Aleacea "we have to go" I said frantically. "We have to hide"
"What about the others?" She said "It's every man for themselves right now." I grabbed her hand and tried to find a place to hide. As we ran we saw a door. When we opened the door there were stairs. We frantically ran down the stairs and when we reached the bottom it was pitch black. We tried to feel in front of us but there was what felt like a big rock in our way. It was a dead end and we couldn't go back or Mrs. Glenda would find us. We bunched up in the corner hoping we wouldn't be found. "Shh" I mumbled and put my hand over Aleacea's mouth. We heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Aleacea and I were both terrified. "Naya, Aleacea, anybody?" We soon realized it was Kevin. "Over here" Aleacea whispered. Soon we felt Kevin in the corner with us. "How are the others?" I asked "that old bat got Jacob and Brianna." Our group went from nine to 5. "What about Zharia and Cassidy?" Aleacea asked. "I told them to meet me down here when they felt it was safe." After Kevin said that we heard more footsteps. It was Cassidy and Zharia. We knew there had to be some way out of here. We all started feeling against the rock wall. "Over here" Cassidy whispered. We all made our way by Cassidy and there was a door knob. Cassidy opened the door but the only thing behind it was more rock. It was a trick. "Well if we can't go around under or through then the only way to go is up." Zharia said. That was the smartest thing that has ever came out her mouth. "So we have to die?" Kevin said confused. "Not that far up sweetie." Aleacea said. "I'll go first." I offered " I'll let you know if it's safe. " I then began to climb up the wall. Surprisingly enough there was another side. "It's safe" I yelled. First over was Aleacea, then Cassidy, then Zharia, and last was Kevin. On this side there was a nice hot fire. We were all tiered and hungry. We decided to take a brake and rest. Aleacea had curled up under Kevin and Cassidy and Zharia were together. I sat in the corner and thought. Why were we here, how did we get here, and how were we gonna get out? Everyone had gone to sleep and I realized something was wrong with the wall. I went over to it and as I touched it a secret compartment opened up. There was a note in it. It read: there is a lier among you, maybe two, when in a disaster, what would you do? I wasn't sure wether to keep it to myself or tell the others. But I soon decided to just put it in my pocket. If there actually was a lier I was determined to find out who it was. I soon decided I needed a rest and I fell asleep. I was soon woken up by a scream. I jumped up and Cassidy was dead. "Oh my gosh!" Zharia said "who would do such a thing?" I added " I think it's time we start moving." Kevin said. We all began to walk down the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel was a door. We were scared to open it. We were terrified of what might be behind the door. But soon Levin opened the door. We all stepped in and the floor fell from beneath us. We all screamed as we were free falling. When we hit the bottom giant leaves soften our fall. We were in a jungle. Then we heard the voice on the intercom. "Those who deceive will soon be shown and only pure of hearts can move on." Then the voice when off. I knew exactly what she meant because of the note I found. Everyone else starred at each other in confusion. It soon began to rain and we had to find shelter. We broke into groups again. It was Zharia and I and kevin and Aleacea. Zharia and I went to get some wood and Kevin and Aleacea went to get giant leaves. After Aleacea and Kevin walked off Zharia grabbed my arm and said "your gonna help me hurt Aleacea and if you don't I will kill you and her." I couldn't risk my best friend's life so I listened to her plan. " I'm gonna get kevin alone and canodel with him and ur gonna make sure Aleacea sees it." She said. I wasnt sure about this. I didn't want to hurt her but if I didn't Zharia would and she's already a witch. So after Zharia and I got wood we all gathered back together and started building a hut. I soon brought Aleacea to help me get some more fire wood while Zharia began her little plan. When we got back we didn't see Kevin or Zharia. I lead Aleacea to the big hut and there were Zharia are Kevin "canoodling". Aleacea ran off in tears. Before I could run after her Zharia grabbed my arm and said if you tell her I planed this I will kill her and you and you won't have any chance of escaping this place. At that moment I realized what the note and the person on the intercom meant. They were worming us that Zharia was apart of the reasons we were all in here and how one by one we were all picked off. After Zharia let go of my arm I began running to catch up with Aleacea. When I caught up to her she was sitting on a tree limb. I struggle trying to climb up the tree but I soon made it up the tree. "I'm truly sorry." I said to her as she placed her head on my shoulder. "It's not your fault it's mine for being such an idiot." she replied crying even more. "Aleacea you are not an idiot.""well obviously I am to fall in love with such an ignorant person." I wanted to tell her the truth but I know if I did Zharia would kill us both. I soon realized my number one priority would be to get us out of here and as far away as possible from Zharia. I grabbed Aleacea's shoulders and looked her in the eyes. "You need to pull yourself together. You can cry as much as you want after we get out of here.""But Naya, from the looked of it there is no way out of here." Aleacea said. "You have to have hope." I told her and we soon climbed down the tree. When we reached the bottom everything was silent a little too silent. Then the intercom came on. "To leave one of you will have to be the key. Your numbers will be cut and only two will make it out alive. Your almost at the end. Good luck." Then the voice went off. Aleacea and I looked at each other and realized we now have to be either hunters or be hunted. I soon heard Zharia's voice come closer. I grabbed Aleacea's wrist and ran with her. I honestly didn't want to deal with Zharia and I wanted to be free from her. Aleacea and I soon hid behind a tree and then Zharia stopped. "You can run but you can't hide. You know that's the same thing I told Kevin before I told Kevin before I killed him." Then she just walked away. When she left Aleacea's sorrow turned into anger. I could see rage forming in her eyes. She began to get up to chase after Zharia but I held her down and she looked at me. I shook my head no at her until Zharia was soon out of sight. Aleacea got up and looked at me. "Why would you do that? I could've taken her."aleacea said." I bet you could but right now isn't the time.""why not?" She asked "because right now we have to get out of this hell hole and then we could be home free.""your right" Aleacea replied. Then we began trying to find a way out of this strange place.
We walked for at least a mile but still had no clue were to go. I didn't want any part of this I just wanted to wake up at home and that it would all be just a dream, but that didn't happen. After a while Aleacea and I couldn't walk any further. Just above us were huge trees that we were able to rest in for the night. Both of us were terrified of the next bad thing that would happen but even worse we were scared of loosing each other. After my parents died she was the only person there for me. She's like a sister to me and if anything were to happen to her I wouldn't be able to live with myself. We've just been through so much and I would hate for all that to go away because of this strange place. When we made it to a high up branch to were no one could see us from below Aleacea laid across my legs but I didn't mind because after this strange Adventure uv learned to hold on to every single moment because it might be your last. As Aleacea laid across my legs I proved myself up against the tree and we both peacefully went to sleep.
