The door flew open as gunshots filled the hallway behind me. I held out my hand and unleashed the under barrel. The infected dropped at my feet. We rounded the corner and bolted up the stairs. Dash pulled a grenade pin and hucked it to the top of the stairs. The explosion rocked the area. We didn't have time for stealth.

As we broke through the now open we came to a wall of infected. I drew my second weapon a sword with a gun barrel fused to each side. I pulled the trigger and one barrel fired. The group of infected were nothing but body parts!

"The exit is right ahead. That door at the end" I said as we sprinted down the hall. I glanced behind to see the last of the grunts go down. Just me and dash... As usual. We hit the door and didn't stop running until we were out of the blast area. Dash pulled the controller out of his pocket and pressed the button which caused a earth shaking explosion followed by a massive amounts of screaming.

"You never ceases to amaze me with the shitty jobs you manage to get Mark. The fact we haven't ended up dead is incredible." Dash said as we collapsed onto the ground breathing heavily.

"That's what it means to get the job done. Hunters can't be choosers." I said getting to my feet. I adjusted my gear.

"I want to get back so let's get to the car. Get out of these blood soaked clothes." I said starting to walk away.

"So we just took out a level 7 and you're not even phased. What have you killed that's worse then the goddamn "Chico virus hive"?" Dash asked curiously

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you dash. Why's your nickname dash but I don't know your real name?" I fired back.

"Well when you tell me what I want then I'll tell you what you want." He casually said back. I hate that this person never seemed to know when to stop digging at the past.

"I'll tell you one thing about me though. I only pull this sword out when I'm serious. So if you see this come out... Fight like everyone's life's depends on it, run or die." He stared at me with a blank stare. He holstered his revolver, Straightened his hair, then his jacket and said in a crazed voice:

"HOW IN THE FUCK IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE A GOOD THING?!"

I sheathed the sword. I turned and started walking. We walked back to the car in complete silence. After a couple low level encounters and s clothes change. We hit the road. Again we did so without the slightest word being spoken.

When we hit the rendezvous it was dark and we could smell sulphur. That was unusual. I looked at dash and something must have gripped him because he turned the car off. He looked at me and said:

"get out of the car" His eyes were dead serious. I'd never seen this side of him. The howl that followed set us both on edge.

In a flash I was sucked out of the passenger seat through the window! Whatever had me chucked me into a thorn patch. I screamed from the pain. And forced my way out. A tendril wrapped around me, ripping me out, and further ripping my flesh. My trenchcoat was in taters and the clothes I had underneath weren't much better. I was thrown against the windshield of the car! I bounced off and landed on the driver side door, it opened and I slid off and fell against the car with my head on the seat.

Dash was gone but he let me know he was there because he was shooting at it. I picked the thorns from my body and I forced myself to my feet. I drew my pistol and stood up aiming. I didn't see anything but dash standing there with his hands up.

"Don't shoot. It was something that I'm meant to deal with..... You know the list thing." He lowered his sleeve revealing his tattoos. I lowered my gun and holstered it.

"So you killed that thing?" I asked falling to my knee. Blood was coming out of every limb on my body. Dash slid over the car and held me up as the lights around us came back on. Dash basically dragged me into the small compound.

Some people greeted us but I was about to pass out from blood loss. The next few hours were a blur as I got stitched up. They left me alone afterwards and now I'm sitting in the bed typing this up.

I think it's about time I got this down on paper because I get the feeling something's been brewing. This was the last job I had on the books.... I always have something on the books.
