              THE QUENCHED NEED

Scorching hot, the sun beats down on me

Crawling & creeping, sweating profusely

Looking around hopeful, searching continuously

Vast, bare, dry, vacant lands are all I see

Not a tree in sight, not even a blade of grass

My tongue completely dry, my throat parched

The burning thirst eating away my insides

The sky and ground switch places as suddenly on my back I lie

Every cell crying out frm its heart

..........

.............

A JOLT! A JERK! A CHILL OF FEAR!

Its all a bad dream I see! Phew!

But its helped me embrace the need

To preserve this precious liquid

Which is the Elixir of human life

And mankind's highest ever bid!
