one week later
"Hey Nash." my mom woke me up. "Orientation today, you need to go."
"Mom. No thank you." I pulled my sheets over my head, hiding her face from my sleepy view.
"Honey," she said sternly, ripping my sheets off. "you are going."
I was now exposed to the iceberg air, waking me up so fast, sonic would be jealous.
"Whatever mom." I said, shooing her out of my bedroom. "It's a total waste of time!"
I dragged myself to the bathroom and showered. After my shower I checked my phone for the time. 7:45AM. Orientation was at 8:00AM. I was going to be late.
I quickly got dressed into my khaki shorts and light blue button up, before brushing through my hair. Then, I slipped my feet into some blue vans whilst unplugging my phone and creating a quick tweet.
I flew down the stairs, grabbed the last two granola bars and a water bottle. I ate one and threw one to Hayes, who was currently putting his shoes on as fast as he could.
"Dude, now what am I going to eat?" He said and stood up.
"I don't know and I don't care. We're going to be late." I snatched my keys off the counter and ran out to my car, with Hayes on my heels.
Elizabeth's POV:
"Dammit." I mumbled under my breath. I was late for my junior orientation.
I walked through the front doors and the hallway was so huge and so beautiful. Paintings, art, and photography, were hanging all over the walls. It looked like a museum threw up.
"Where's the junior orientation at?" I asked a lady sitting at the visitor center.
"Down the hall and to your right. It's in the small auditorium. There should be a sign above it." She pointed down the big decorated hallway.
"Thank you." I headed in the direction she pointed and saw the sign she mentioned.
I walked in and there were more people than I had anticipated. Thank god nobody turned around to see me. I went to the nearest seat I could find and sat down quietly. A couple minutes later, somebody else walked in, late.
"Excuse me, sorry." I looked down the row and saw the other late person. "Sorry." His voice was so smooth sounding. "Really sorry." He reached the seat empty next to me, plopped down, and sighed.
Oh my god, it's the stuttery guy from the party! He's sitting next to me!
I quickly hid my face with my hand.
"Hey." He whispered.
I peeked through my fingers and saw him looking at the speaker on stage. He was gorgeous, whatever his name was. He turned his head to look at me and I quickly closed my fingers and look forward.
"Hey." he whispered again, a little bit louder. "What's your name?" he asked.
"Ssssshhhhhhhh." somebody from in front of us turned around and hissed.
I laughed quietly to myself and payed attention to the speaker on stage. I wanted so badly to look at the unknown boy next to me, but I didn't want him to know it was me.
"Do I stink or something?" I felt him raise his arm and heard him make sniffing noises.
"No, you don't stink." I chuckled.
"She has a voice!" he gasped. "but does she have a name?" he pushed my hand down and examined the side of my face.
I turned my head and looked him straight in the eyes.
He looked for a couple more seconds, and then his crystal blue eyes got very big. He realised that I was the girl he tried, but failed, to hit on at the party.
"Alright, that's it for now!" the speaker exclaimed. Both the boy and I turned our attention to the front of the auditorium. "If your last name starts with and A through M, go to the cafeteria. If your name starts with an N through Z, go to the gymnasium."
Everybody slowly stood up and walked their ways. The boy walked the opposite way as I did, meaning his last name started with the first half of the alphabet.
I went to all my classes with my group and didn't pay attention to one thing. All I could think about was the boy from the party. After the orientation, we all headed back to the auditorium. I walked straight back to the seat I had sat in earlier and saw him already sitting there. I smiled and sat down next to him. I checked my phone for the time. 2:25PM, we had 5 minutes late until we were let go.
"Your name?" I looked up from my phone and noticed the auditorium was filling up fast. "I didn't catch it earlier." I looked to my left and noticed it was him talking to me.
"Oh, uh, my name is Elizabeth." I smiled.
"Nice to finally properly meet you Elizabeth." he smiled back. "I'm Nash."
