Flashing lights and we, took a wrong turn and we, fell down the rabbit hole, you held on tight to me

She'd hated him. His crazy smile, his flashing eyes, his confidence. He thought that just because he was one of the "golden boys", one of the "marauders"  that he could have whatever–whoever he wanted.

But fuck, he was attractive. Every un-appealing part of him was also, strangely appealing. His crazy smile was also dazzling, and his flashing eyes were a bright green, and just glancing at them made her knees weak. His confidence was it's tipping points, and she'd seen him vulnerable before. Marlene swore she hated him, but, when she finally did fall, head over heels down the rabbit hole, he was there to catch her, just as Lily had always promised.

You held on tight to me, cause nothing's, as it seems, spinning out of control

When he did catch her, it was as if he was never going to let go, his arms wrapped tightly around her as they snogged in a broom closet in between classes, his hand locked with hers as the walked down the corridors. He had fallen just as deeply in love with her as she did with him.

She'd always figured there was no point in even thinking about liking Sirius Black, after all, he was a notorious flirt whose string of lovers ran twice around the whole castle, but once he caught her, he never let go, and their love began to spin out of control in the best way possible.

Didn't they tell us don't rush into things

They got warnings in all different forms, detentions, jokes that James half-meant, late night talks with Lily. She were scared the they were moving too fast, but Sirius had a belief (that Marlene quickly adopted) that when you meant the person you were meant to be with, there was no such thing as "rushing it".

Didn't you flash your green eyes at me?

Any doubt that she had about their relationship was gone with one flash of those devilish green eyes that were always following her.

Haven't you heard what becomes of curious minds?

Sirius always told her not to worry about what other people said, no matter how harsh their words were, because, after all, curiosity killed the cat.

Didn't it all seem new and exciting?

I felt your arms twisting around me

It was all new to Marlene, who'd never been this committed to someone. Kissing him set her bones on fire, holding his hand made her weak in the knees, but she was addicted to him.

I should've slept with one eye opened at night

But just as their relationship started up, so did the great wizarding war, Marlene's parents and eldest brother were killed, followed quickly by Sirius's depression.

We found wonderland. You and I got lost in it.

And we pretended it could last forever

He used to say that so long as they were together, so long as they were up all night partying, kissing, they could forget about the war, and just act like two crazy-in-love teenagers, instead of like the adults they were expected to be.
