Knowing I have to go to school again after committing a murder, I'm not in my highest hopes.

"Lyla, you're gonna be late AGAIN."

I still haven't told mom, and I'm not planning on it either.

"PLEASE can I just skip today? Please?"

"Lyla..."

"Mom..."

"Lyla. It's your second day of high school. You can't be doing this right now."

Yeah, my second day of high school, after I killed someone on the first.

"Lyla, you're going."

My mother's long black hair swung with her body when she turned away, and swept over her red shirt and black jeans. She had such a perfect build: her cheekbones were visible but not too much, she had perfect lips, and her nose fit her face. Her eyes were exactly identical and they lined up perfectly with each other, along with thin black eyebrows.

I only describe her because she looks PERFECT compared to me, who looks like an overweight rat.

"Mom-"

"Lyla, one more time and you're grounded."

"Fine..."

I pulled on a pair of blue jeans with rips at the knees and a black shirt with a picture of Mickey Mouse on it. My shoes were my red Converse and I had a silver bracelet. I threw my bag over my shoulder and began my trudge down the street.

------

Connor didn't even show up today. Probably because of Mrs. Floyd. I feel bad for her family. It must be so painful to know that someone's mother, daughter, wife, cousin.... is dead now. Gone forever. They're never going to see her again. It pains ME just thinking about it. Yeah, she was a bitch to me and Connor, but she died...

-----

Apparently Connor did show up. At the lunchroom I saw him sitting with some of the other boys that were congratulating him yesterday on standing up to Floyd. He eventually noticed I came to school today, and sat at the table with me.

"Hey-"

"Don't"

I'm not in the mood for speaking to somebody who didn't give a crap about someone dying in front of him.

"I'm sorry Lyla."

I turned away. I don't even want to look at him.

"Lyla..."

"WHAT?!"

"I... I wasn't expecting you to actually come to school today."

"And?"

"And.. I'm sorry I said that in front of a dying person. No. I'm sorry for saying that in general. She was such a bitch to us, but that doesn't mean it was okay to say that whatsoever."

"Okay... but I'm still mad at you."

"That's understandable."

"Well, I'm glad you apologized."

There was a bit of a pause.

"Where's... the equipment?"

"I brought it back to my place."

"Meet me here after school. With the equipment."

He smiled at me. This would be fun.

-------

Yeah yeah, don't go attacking me for wanting to find her ghost after scolding Connor about it. I know I went from one mood to another, but we got past it. And he's right- she was a bitch to us.
