From the backyard came sounds of meowing. A lot of meowing. Three cats were playing tag together near their house. The cats were certainly a unique bunch. One was a bright red with orange patches all over his fur. His name was Magma, and he was the toughest of them all. Even with his strength and determination, curiosity got the best of him sometimes. Emerald, the oldest, had shiny green fur all over. She was smart and never jumped to conclusions. The last cat was very shy. She was dark green with light green markings on her back. She was the youngest one, and whenever strangers passed by her, she was the one that got free food. Her name was Jade.

The house was relatively small, and it was located on a steep hill. The cats knew to never go down the hill, their owner said it was too dangerous. She didn't have to say that, though. Nobody would be dumb enough to slide down a hill that steep, even a cat who always lands on their feet. There would be no way to get up, so they would be stuck until rescue came.

Jade was terrified of the steep hill. Not because it was steep, but because there was a dark forest at the very bottom. To the kittens, it was unknown territory. If someone was unlucky enough to fall down the hill, they would get lost in the forest and go missing. Jade's siblings knew her weakness, so whenever they played tag, they would run to the edge of the hill. For this reason, Jade didn't like tag very much.

Today, though, something in Jade's mind changed. She decided she wouldn't be the scaredy-cat anymore. She was going to chase her siblings no matter where they were. They went to the edge of the hill, as expected, taunting Jade. She started walking away to fool them, and then ran towards them, ready to tag. Emerald and Magma realized what Jade was doing, and jumped away at the last second. Jade missed them and tumbled down the hill, towards the dark woods.
