(2) Lucifer's greeting

Ethan stood there in awe as he stood in front of the devil himself. "So you're lucifer?" He asked again, almost not believing it. Lucifer flashed a grin as he nodded his head. "So when I died I went to Hell?" Ethan groaned halfheartedly. Satan laughed and gestured to the outside "well yeah this sure as hell isn't heaven." Ethan only halfway heard the answer as he spun around, admiring the room they stood in. "So why am I here, talking to you?" Ethan wondered aloud. Lucifer pretended to be hurt by grasping his heart, well whatever a devil had.

"Because I took a personal liking to you while you were still on Earth, I've seen the way you act, and I like it." Lucifer said as he started to walk, leaving Ethan to follow behind as they left the large room. "You see, Hell isn't exactly pretty, but we make it work." He continued as he gestures to the crumbling buildings all around them. "Hell is a wasteland of God's unwanteds." In that moment it almost sounded as if the demon actually felt bad for Hell's members.

"So is what they say in the bible true? Did you really get struck down here because wanted to be in control?" Ethan asked, unsure of the answer he was actually going to get. "You of all non religious people should know that book means shit, at least in the aftermath of life." Lucifer looked at him with knowing eyes. "So what all does that mean? And don't beat around the bush." Ethan groaned as he made eye contact  with Luicfer and smirked.

"I wanted to change Heaven, if it was actually like what that book says then I would love that more than what it is now. Heaven is almost cult like. God's people are made to obey his every command and so he uses them as tools. When i was put into Heaven he tried to use me as well but somehow I withstood it and he clearly didn't like that. So he sent me here, alone and powerless. Plenty of years later I actually have powers and God sends anyone who showed doubt in his powers of earth or whoever stepped out of line in Heaven." Luicfer finished, taking a deep breath.

Ethan sat there as he realized how little truth people know on Earth. Ethan looks down and notices he was led into what looked like a field of flowers, only they were limited to shades of black and red. He kneels and plucks a black rose, twisting it, ignoring the small cuts it was making in his hands. "Hell really isn't that bad is it?"
