summary:

it was seven o' clock, and [my sister] had asked me to go down the street and by some ingredients for dinner tonight.
it was only her and i at home: my parents were on holiday - coming back tonight, actually - and my grandma had just left our house to go back to hers.

the supermarket wasn't that far away, maybe four or five minutes? i rounded two blocks, crossed six roads and dodged people before setting foot into the store and grabbing a basket.

no less that ten minutes later, i stepped outside - and it was dark and cold.
seven-thirty already.

i sighed, gripping the bags tightly and trying to conserve as much body heat as possible so i could make it: home and dry.
but that never happened.

i was dry, yes, but i never got home.

because when i entered my neighbourhood, it was infested with zombies.
that's wasn't supposed to happen.

but neither was the sheer coincidence that the king's son - the prince - and i had encountered during the second day of the apocalypse, and that we were currently scaling up a tree to search for any safe zones and survivors.
