"I think I'm gonna puke," Sid said. He looked a little green.
"It'll be ok," I assured him. The truth was, I felt like I was going to puke too. Opening night jitters were all around. All acts had gone pretty well so far. Wyatt had killed it was Romeo. There were times I had to tear myself away from his chestnut brown eyes and try to remember my line. There were times when I forgot this was a play and not real.
"Focus Addison," I told myself I took a deep breath.
"I can't do it," Sid said and ran away.
"Sid!" I yelled. I was panicking. His scene was next and I was pretty sure I wasn't going to catch him.
"Where's Sid?" Mrs.Dorthyanne demanded, "Nevermind, Zed you're taking his place. Go get the fake poison. It's next to the bottle of liquid silver in the changing room. Zed hurried away.
"Hey, " I quiet voice said behind me. I spun around to see Wyatt. His hair was messy with white and black streaks all over the place. His white button-down shirt was unbuttoned slightly and he looked flushed from the stage lights.
"You ok? I heard Sid got sick from stage fright and ran away." He said.
"I'm fine," I said exhaling. I hadn't noticed I had been holding my breath.
"You look a little...green," he said reaching out and touching a lock of my hair.
"Just a little scared," I admitted.
"Deep breathes." he reminded me.
"Right." I agreed.
"Addison?" I whipped around to see Zed. He was holding the bottle of false poison.
"Zed," I said not knowing what else to really say. Zed stared at Wyatt. His eyes slowly trailed to Wyatt's hand that was still touching my hair. Wyatt slowly lowered his hand.
"Good luck out there," Wyatt told me quietly before disappearing into a nearby room. Zed didn't say anything. He just followed Wyatt into the room. I quickly went after both of them and stood at the door frame.
"Hey," Zed said, "What are you doing?"
"Just going over lines for-" Wyatt was cut off by Zed.
"Not the play, I mean with Addison. Do you have a thing for her?" I could hear Wyatt put his script down.
"Does it matter? You're dating her." I could hear bitterness in his voice.
"Well, you don't seem to care. I saw you caressing her face earlier."
"She was nervous. I was supporting her in true werewolf fashion."
"Zed, Wyatt let's move! Get on Stage!" Mrs.Dorthyanne screamed. The play went pretty smoothly, though Zed had this strange expression on his face when he sold the poison to Wyatt. Finally, it was the last scene of the play. Romeo was making a toast to Juliet over what he thinks is her dead body.
"To you my love," I hear Wyatt say. I hear the unclasping of cork and then silence as he drinks. Suddenly there is a loud shatter. I open my eyes as I pretend to wake up. I see Wyatt collapsed on the ground breathing heavily and coughing. My eyes trail to the fake poison. It was supposed to be green. It was silver. I gasped in shock, and a few audience members clap. They think this is all part of the show. I remember what Eliza had said. One more dilemma and I may never see her again. I try to think. How did the liquid silver get in there? Then I remember. Zed. The weird look he had when he gave Wyatt the poison. The fact that the silver was right next to the fake poison. I clenched my teeth and almost got up to to punch Zed in the face. Then I remembered what Wyatt had said a week earlier.
"If you are the great alpha, your saliva will cure my physical pains." I shakily got to my knees. Wyatt was still coughing and I could see the blood beginning to drain from his face.
"If thee is to die, let me come with you. " I carefully pressed my lips against his. They were so warm. I felt him relax, and then suddenly deepening the kiss. I hardly heard the roar of the audience over his steady heartbeat.
