I woke up to the smell of dark roast Cuban coffee and subtle hints of something cooking on the stove. I look to my right and as my eyes silently pass over Kydd's sleeping form, watching the movement of his back as he breathes, a smile crawls to my lips,

"How could I have gotten so lucky?" I admiringly say, towards the person who I adore most in this world. I silently get up from the warm embrace of my sheets, stretching out my sore muscles, thanks to last nights physical excursions. I make my way towards the lingering smell of coffee and what seems to be eggs and waffles cooking on the old beat-up the stove that was dragged from the depths of who knows where, which now lives and attends to six food-oriented adults which add years to that old thing, but we love and cherish it.

I make my way through the narrow hallway that leads to the rooms of my beloved housemates and finds myself standing in the middle of the kitchen, absolutely dazed by the scent that lingers at the brink of my nose.

"Morning Eli,"I blatantly remark as I shuffle towards the fridge, that was most likely the home to unspeakable creatures in its previous life, also found on the street.

"You're up early. I'm usually the only one awake for quite some time, it'll be nice to have some morning company,"Eli says, in a tone that has a certain sadness to it.

"Yeah, I mean I smelled something that contains caffeine so I was awoken involuntarily. I'm pretty sure I have some sort of weird addiction, and will most likely go through terrible withdrawal if we had an apocalypse or something and I could no longer bask in the warm and robust embrace of Eli Bennett's World Famous dark roast Cuban coffee."Eli gives a half-hearted chuckle while lamely poking at the eggs that seemed to have been already done for some time.

"What is it, Eli?" I question, as I slip into one of the trendy copper bar stools Violet brought from her familys old guest house.

"No, no nothing, it's nothing, I'm just a little drained from all this moving around and stuff. It seems to be taking a toll on everyone,"He pauses, as he shoots a glance towards KDs door.

"Yeah, what the hell was that all about last night?" I nodded my head towards KDs room, giving Eli a questioning look.

"Oh you know, its KD, when is he not upset? That man was probably born with a stick up his ass, "Eli coldly remarked, as he turned away and stared out of the kitchen window, his knuckles turning white as his hands gripped the edge of the flaking finished-wood countertop.

"Whoa, there cowboy, what has gotten into you?"I playfully said, while hearing movement in one of the rooms. The kitchen no longer smelled of warm coffee and sizzling eggs, but now of something pungent, like there was something was profusely burning.

"Never mind me, I think there are other people we should be worrying about at the moment," KDs door swung open and he walked out, slowly gliding towards us wearing nothing but a towel around his waist and old socks that I could smell from where I was sitting.

"Well now, speaking of the Devil, " Eli says coolly under his breath, advancing toward the other end of the kitchen, opening a drawer and messing with whatever was inside.

"Morning hotshots, your man is heading out for a morning swim, getting the juices flowing for todays adventures. Care to join me Mila? Eli?" Eli snorted and slid into the living room while KD had a menacing smirk across his face.

"Hmm, someones a bit bitter this morning," KD snickered as he made his way towards the front door. KD was headed toward the clubhouse that contained an oddly shaped pool that seemed to be leaking water, as well as an outdoor shower that poured black rubbery water from its worn showerhead that housed Earths finest spider web collection, due to the fact that no one had the courage to bathe in such atrocities. Elis eyes follow KD out of the door, not pulling away until KD was out of sight.
