Flying. High. Soaring with the birds. The colours in the sky at dawn. Until, crash. Snap. As my mind focused I went back to the reality that was my miserable life. Being 17 and in a wheel chair all day were things that didn't mix well. I still went to Belleview High School and hated more than anything else. My máma Felice was stern and said with that with my 4 year old sister and an estranged father, homeschooling was not an option."Natalia Maria Luciana Rizzo I hope you're doing homework!" See? I'm in a wheelchair and she nags me about homework."I am máma." My phone rings and I see it's my friend Molly."Natalia Marie i better not have to take that phone off of you!" Ugh I just wanna talk to my friend!"It's just Molly máma!" Wow nag much?"Well don't even think about answering." I hear her say."I have to go now." She says, entering my room."But make sure Genie doesn't get into the cookies alright? And for crying out loud! Do your homework." She says."Yes mám."
She leaves and shuts the door behind her and I look around my room. I have LED lights that are usually set to a gold colour, a low to the ground bed, a photo wall of friends and my doggy corner for my puppy Vegas, she's a Border Collie cross Rough Collie. It has her bed, her water/food bowl and above her bed I have my fav photo of her where she's got an expression on her face that makes it looks like she's smiling and grateful for everything. I'm grateful to be alive and all but, just...
(Sigh) I miss being able to walk freely where I want. I just guess it's just something everyone takes for granted...The title of the story isn't set in stone, if you have any ideas please share. ☺️
