The rest of the afternoon consisted of Jasper throwing insults, asking you what things around the house were and what they were for, and you running behind her to either take or watch what she was touching so she wouldn't accidentally (or purposely) break it. It was like taking care of a child! She was a gem, obviously, but she hadn't spent much time on Earth. At least not on modern Earth, so everything was a new experience for her. She seemed as if she wanted to learn about her new location, but then again, she just could have been bored. You sighed again, prying the lava lamp in your room from Jasper's hands for the third time. "Jasper, you don't have to hold it to look at it." She glared at you, baring her teeth slightly.

"What did I tell you about disrespecting my name, human?" She approached you, and you rolled your eyes, leaning back against your dresser and crossing your arms. "You are beneath me, so you will refer to me as either Commander or Captain Jasper." Since she told you her name, she made it pretty clear that she wanted some kind of title put before it since you were 'beneath her' in a figurative and literal sense. And also because she was a high-ranked soldier. She fought in the front lines of the Gem War Steven and Pearl had told you about, which happened long ago.

"Commander just sounds ridiculous, and I am definitely not calling you 'Captain Jasper'." She growled getting close to your face, but you ignored her, thinking to yourself. "What about 'CJ'?" She raised an eyebrow at you, leaning back and crossing her arms. "It's an abbreviation. Like a short way of saying 'Captain Jasper'. I won't be calling you by just your name, which is 'respectful'", you emphasized by using air quotes, "and I won't have to say that ridiculous mouthful." Jasper looked as though she was pondering what you suggested. You looked up at her expectantly, hoping she would agree. She then nodded, clasping her hands behind her back."

"Yes. You may call me that instead, human." You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding and smiled warmly. "You are very clever brat...," Jasper said, chuckling. You opened your mouth to express your thanks for the compliment, but she cut you off. "...for someone so weak and fragile. Maybe that's how you humans survive." You huffed, clearly annoyed.

"Whatever. I'm going to go and eat." You then made your way downstairs and into the kitchen. You made sure to avoid the broken tile so as not to injure yourself. I really should cover that with something... You exhaled softly, opening the fridge and taking out the box of leftover pizza from Fish Stew. Throwing a couple of slices onto a plate, you put the cold food into the microwave to heat up. You threw the box away, taking note that the trashcan was full. "I'll take it out in the morning." The microwave beeped, indicating that your food was done. You made your way over to the kitchen appliance, opening the small door and taking the plate out. Steam billowed slowly off the plate, and you hummed in satisfaction at the aroma. You then walked over to the couch, set the plate on the arm of the chair, and grabbed the TV remote. You flicked through channels until you came across some late-night cartoon. You set the remote down, staring at the screen while bringing the end of the pizza to your mouth.

"Human, what is this you are watching?" You jumped slightly at Jasper's gruff voice, turning your head to see her leaning over the back of the sofa, her large arms folded against the cushions.
