He Overheard [Nalu]

Chapter 1

Natsu, a pink haired fire mage, was walking towards the guild Fairy Tail. He held his hands behind his head, talking to his best friend, Happy.

They had just came back from a job, someone had requested him yet again. They seemed eager to share what they had been through over the last couple of days to their friends, knowing that they'd love to hear it.

"Naatsuu!" Happy groaned, "Get me some fishies with the reward money that you got. I'm broke!"

Natsu looked over to the blue exceed, "Hell no! Maybe ask Luce, she might get'cha some, or just fish for them."

"Oh yeah."

Natsu sighed as he sweatdropped. He looked ahead toward his home. He could hear the yelling, clashing, and banging from a mile away. A smile crept on his face. He couldn't wait to get to his family.

"I'M BACK!" the pinkette yelled once he had barged in.

No one heard him over the yelling and screaming. He chuckled to himself a little at that. He approached the right of the room, along with Happy, to the small group of ladies huddled over the bar, whispering. They were too busy talking to notice the two friends behind them. Natsu was just about to speak when:

"Come on, Lucy! Lighten' up a bit!" Cana insisted.

"Yeah, Lu, you don't need to be afraid. We're all girls here," Levy reassures.

"I don't know guys," Lucy says looking around, Natsu hides behind one of the pillars, bringing along Happy.

"Hey!"

"Shh. This is getting good!" A devilish smirk appearing on his face.

Lucy leans forward and whispers something. Normally, you wouldn't be able to hear it, but Natsu has heightened senses since he's a dragon slayer. Though, his hearing isn't as great as Wendy's, it's much better than that of the average human. "What if someone hears."

Natsu laughs a bit at that statement before covering his mouth.

"They won't, now spill!" Lisanna gushed.

Natsu wondered what she could mean by that. He was unconsciously leaning forward a bit to figure it out, but that was quickly answered by Mira.

"Just tell us that you like Natsu!"

Natsu was even more confused. Wasn't it obvious that she liked him? I mean, they were best friends. They wouldn't be partners if they didn't like each other.

"Ugh, look, I won't lie to you anymore. I do, maybe, have some feelings for Natsu, but even if I did, he isn't into that kind of thing." Lucy mumbled that last part, sadness clearly evidant in her eyes.

Natsu looked way more confused now. Why was she sad? What did she mean by "feelings"? Why was she blushing a little bit? What is happening!?

Just then his feet moved on their own, Happy noticing this, followed close behind.

"Yo, what'cha guys talkin' about!"

The five women looked behind them. Lucy's face blushed more when she realized who's voice had just asked that question.

"D-Did you hear all that?" she stuttered a bit. Natsu looked at her, he could tell that she didn't want him to know about the conversation that they just had, even though he had no idea why.

"Hear what? I didn't hear anything," he lied. Lucy sighed and relaxed.

"How was the job?" Mira asked, smiling her usual smile.

"It was great. I finally got a reward!"

They each chuckled. Natsu, left once again, confused.

"Anyways, the monster was like, 'Rawr!'. And the townspeople were like, 'Ahh!'. And I came in like, 'I'll save you!', which I did, and they praised me and I got my reward!" Natsu explained, clearly excited to tell them about the job.

"And the monster was huuge," Happy tagged in. Natsu smiled his toothy grin to his friend. Lucy smiled to herself, their happy energy rubbing off on her. She looked towards the window and realized that it was dark and people were already leaving. She was tired herself so she decided it was time to go home

"I'm gonna head home, guys," the blonde yawned, standing up and stretching.

"Have a nice night, Lucy!" Mira exclaimed.

"Yeah, see you tomorrow, Lu!"

"We're continuing our conversation tomorrow as well." Cana winked. Lucy sweatdropped at that.

"See ya," Lisanna added.

Lucy smiled at her friends and looked to Natsu and Happy.

"Bye Natsu, Happy" Lucy smiled.

"See ya, Luce!"

"Aye!" Happy chimed in.

She nodded as a response and then headed out.
