"Oliver, please! Just slow down a bit. We're going wayyyy over the speed limit." I grasped the handle of the door next to my seat.
"Calm down, Char, I know what I'm doing. Don't you trust me?" he said with a smirk.
"I do, but-" I was cut off by Oliver slamming on the brakes, barely stopping at the stoplight. We both went silent, trying to catch our breath. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the light turned green and I looked at him. "Slower. Now. Please."
With a sigh and an eye roll, Oliver said, "Fine. For you."
Even though he slowed down we were still speeding down the slippery freeway in the middle of winter. Why were we doing this? I looked over at Oliver, who was now focusing intensely on the road ahead of us. His dirty blonde bangs swept just above his dark blue eyes, and his eyebrows furrowed like they always do when he's concentrating. I sighed, wondering how a girl like me was able to get a guy like Oliver. I pulled my legs up under his sweathsirt I was wearing, which was way too big for me since I'm so short. "Ollie...I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you."
He let out a measley laugh. "It's fine, Charlotte. You were just worried." It got silent except for the sound of the radio playing Maroon 5, my favorite, and the squeaks of the tires on the icy road. Oliver took a deep breath and started, "So, Charlotte, I've uh, been meaning to say for a while now, uhh..."
I looked over again and he was blushing intenstely, so I cut him off with a sharp laugh. "What's up? You seem a little...nervous."
He took in another deep breath and said, "Charlotte, I-" He was cut off again, though not by me. He was cut off by the screech of the wheels and the scratch of another car hitting ours.
