It was dark in the dorm. The only light came from the moon, filtering in unhindered through the windows that lined the far wall.
Siyeon looked around, ears trained for any sign of noise - but there was only silence. Her dormmates were all sleeping soundly in their rooms - something she herself should be doing.
But something woke her up.
It was evil. A darkness. It had seeped into her dreams, coiled around her, and choked the oxygen from her lungs.
She had been thrust from her sleep, gasping for air.
And now here she was - standing alone in their living room. It was silent.
Too silent.
She could feel the hairs on the back of her neck stand at attention, for even they knew something wasn't right.
But what?
Siyeon felt fear pressing hard against her chest, an uncomfortable weight, making her breaths short and shallow.
She took a small step forward. "Hello?" She whispered, hesitantly.
Nothing. Eerie silence.
Then someone called her name.
She barely held back a scream, before she whirled around, eyes wide and fists poised to strike.
"Shit! You scared me." She hissed.
Sua had the decency to look a little sheepish. "Sorry." She whispered, giving her girlfriend an awkward smile.
"But what are you doing out here?" She added after Siyeon had visibly calmed herself.
Siyeon leveled her gaze at the older girl.
"I just thought... I..." She trailed off. Her confidence slipping. "Nothing." She shook her head.
Glancing around one more time, she started back towards her own room.
But Sua's hand held her back with a little more force than necessary.
"Sua it's nothing, let's just-"
She stopped dead. Her eyes turning to lock onto who - no, what had held her back.
It wasn't Sua.
A dark chill ran down her spine, and she violently shivered as she stared; black sunken eyes stared back at her, unblinking.
Siyeon inhaled sharply - panic starting to take hold of her; but she couldn't move.
Couldn't scream.
It was as though her whole body was cemented in place.
The woman started to shift closer; messy black hair floating across her face, seemingly moved by unnatural forces. Her cracked lips twisting into a smirk that sent more chills racing down Siyeon's spine.
She stopped close enough that Siyeon could feel icy breath on her face. This woman was unsettling. Something was just so wrong about her.
Bottomless black eyes held her gaze, even though all she wanted to do was look away.
'Run. Scream. Anything! Just move!' Siyeon's thoughts raced.
"Don't be afraid." It's lips didn't move.
Siyeon manged to shake her head ever-so-slightly.
A cold, calloused hand reached up and held firm to her chin. "I'm not going to hurt you..." It's voice was strange - far away, yet close all at once.
Siyeon thought it might even be in her head.
"Not yet, anyway." The smirk grew, twisting the woman's features even further into an unnatural expression. "I have plans for you, Siyeon." The voice seemed to get deeper, more demonic, as it began to titter.
The hand holding her chin released it's grip, only for the woman to suddenly plunge it deep into her chest, fingers weaving around her beating heart.
Siyeon gasped at the sensation. It was freezing cold, like ice was spreading across her chest, snaking up her throat and biting painfully into her brain.
It scrambled her thoughts, and made her vision blur -- like a particularly bad case of brain-freeze. Except brain-freeze goes away... This wasn't stopping - it was slowly taking over.
The pain only grew. Seconds felt like minutes as it consumed her body and she felt herself slipping-
Then the lights came on.
"Siyeon?" A concerned voice called out to her.
Siyeon's eyes opened slowly, wearily.
When did they close?
A warm hand startled her as it was pressed to her forehead, and she made a noise.
"Whoa, it's okay. It's me, Jiu."
Jiu. Her friend.
Siyeon's eyes adjusted to the sudden light, and she finally noticed the older girl crouched above her.
Then she realised where she was.
She was on the floor of their room. Shivering violently.
Wasn't I just in the living room?
"What's going on?" A groggy voice called out from the left.
"Siyeon fell out of bed, she's sweating, shaking badly, and her skin is freezing cold." Jiu looked up at the new voice. "I don't know what's wrong."
Sheets were suddenly being thrown off and Siyeon could hear rushed footsteps as another face appeared above her.
Dami.
"Siyeon? Siyeon can you hear me?" Dami crouched down on the other side of her, and reached out, gently cupping the older girl's cheek.
She tried to reply. But only just noticed how loudly her teeth were chattering.
Jiu stood up suddenly, and started pulling Siyeon's blanket off her bed, whilst Dami moved to try and relax the older girls hands - which were so tightly clenched over her heart that it actually hurt.
"Maybe we should go get the matron." Dami suggested. "I think she's sick."
"Good idea I'll go and-"
But Siyeon couldn't hear anything else. A painfully loud ringing started playing in her ears, and she felt her eyes roll back into her head.
