I have been waiting for this moment since 2014. The moment I enter the paddock of Formula 1, and now, its happening. In a couple of minutes, the approving sound of the turnstile will send me to "paradise." Thank you, Grand Prix of Azerbaijan, for such an opportunity.
I have been working with Baku City Circuit recently, since November. Feels like it was only yesterday - first terrible day in a new office, but now I am excited! This year was special for me, as my favorite driver, Fernando Alonso, unfortunately, ends his career in Formula 1. My plans were to meet him, stop him and say how much this person means to me, what role model he is, how...
- ... Lilo, hey! Earth is calling! - my manager Dylan knew how important this week was for me, in our company no one had such strong feelings for this sport, but even this did not give me an excuse to relax, because social media will not update itself.
- Sorry, I just... I was dreaming .- Once again, are you still imagining your wedding with Fernando?"
- Oh yes, I would not mind!
- Look out, what if another driver will take you away. Max, for example. - She smiled playfully, and went to her desk, and I'm heading to the paddock! Although there is nothing interesting yet, drivers are sitting in their hotels, some of them are not even here yet, so the only thing I can catch on camera is how the teams prepare their boxes. The was pretty enough.
According to the plan, today I need to take a couple of pictures and videos, after that I am free and planning to go to the Marriott hotel, where the teams of Red Bull, Haas, Renault and Ferrari are staying. I know the lobby of the hotel well, for two years I was waiting for the drivers there as a fan, at 8 AM I was already there. Once I even received a coffee from the chef, he knew I was waiting for long and didn't have my breakfast.
When the clock showed 6:00 PM I moved to the hotel. It was a 7-minute walk from the office, and since the roads were closed for cars, it took me even less. On the way, I managed to see the members of the Ferrari team, they also kept their way to Marriott. There were few people, apparently they were waiting for dinner, which would begin in an hour. I'll wait as well, drivers should come down by this time. They also need food. After taking my favorite sofa place, I started scrolling through the Instagram feed.
- Sorry? - someone came near me. Looking up, I saw Max Verstappen. Despite the fact that I saw him twice and I have photos with him, the internal fangerling did not abate at all. Calming myself down I tried to look cool.
- Hi! Welcome to Azerbaijan ... Again! - Max broke out in a smile when he realized that I know him. This reaction is quite natural, the race in Baku is relatively new, and most people simply can not recognize the driver without a racing suit.
- Oh thank you! Have you not seen my phone here by accident? I seem to have lost it ...
- Oh ... No, I haven't seen it, I came here like 5 minutes ago.
- Heck! Okay thank you!
He ran away so fast that I didn't even have time to ask for a photo, it's sad ... But an hour passed, and there weren't any more drivers... I wasn't in a hurry, but just sitting there for minutes was also unattractive. Fine, another 15 minutes and I'm leaving.
Two minutes later, some action started to take place in the lobby, administrators ran in, the receptionist, even a couple of hotel guests came down to the first floor. Am I the only one who doesn't know whats going on? Although a little later everything became clear - Hamilton. That's right, Lewis Hamilton entered through the main entrance, holding a small burgundy suitcase behind him. He was wearing a white T-shirt, denim jacket, glasses and chains, light ripped jeans and bright red sneakers. His appearance here is very strange, because the Mercedes team stays in another hotel... At least that was the case last year and the year before. I was waiting for Valtteri, but he didn't come. Lewis walked past me, quickly looked at me and the sofa I was sitting on and headed to the reception. I have no idea WHAT the Merc driver is doing here, but I'm going home. Lewis Hamilton is the least favorite driver I care about...

P.S. the cover photo is the real hotel I was waiting for the drivers at
