It's nearly midnight when Alex calls me. He sounds out of breath.

"Can I come over?" he asks.

"Yeah. What's wrong?" I reply.

"I couldn't sleep so I went on a run. I'm around your house and I..."

"I'm heading downstairs now," I say. "My parents will be okay with you here, if they wake up that is."

A few minutes later, Alex knocks on the door. He looks completely distraught.

I almost flinch when he wraps his arms around me.

"I'm sorry," he murmurs. "I know we're both dating people, so please don't take this the wrong way. It's just...no one can calm me down like you do, Zure. If I was with Rachel, all I'd want to do is fuck her. I know that wouldn't help either of us. You've only ever wanted to be my friend so I've always been comfortable around you. With anyone else it's...not the same."

I hug him back tightly. "This whole thing has taken a toll on you, hasn't it?"

Alex nods, his head resting on my shoulder. "Thank you, Zurey. You're a good friend."

I smile. "I know."

"Can I stay tonight?"

"Yeah."

"Will you stay with me?"

I laughed. "Come on, Alex. I think you need some sleep."

By the end of the week, Alex still hadn't talked to Peter. I was beginning to get frustrated.

"What's with that face?" Peter asks.

"You should get going before my parents come home," I say, ignoring his question.

"Why are you being so cold to me?" Peter insists.

"Because you won't even look at Alex!" I practically yell. "It's nearly been two weeks! It's obvious he wants to apologize and talk it out, but you aren't letting him!"

Peter stays silent.

"It's not fair to him," I say quietly. "He really feels guilty..."

"It's hard," Peter mutters. "I can't even bring myself to face him. What I've done is so childish...I hate just wallowing in self pity. It makes me feel pathetic."

"And how do you know that's not how he feels?" I ask. "Just say something to him, Peter. He hasn't been the same without you."

Peter sighed. "I know," he whispered. "I haven't been either. Maybe...maybe I'll talk to him tonight."

I smiled. "He'd appreciate that. Now get going. My parents will be home soon."

Peter smiled back, then leaned down to kiss my forehead. "I'll call you later, okay?"

I nodded.

I really hoped that Peter would talk to Alex. Everything would go back to normal then...

Sorry for the super short chapter! I've been trying to update for quite sometime but writers block is sort of lingering every time I write 😅 I should be back with a longer chapter pretty soon
