After your terrifying and exhausting escapade, you returned to the fire, muscles burning and tense from the strain of carrying yourself through the blackened woods with the brutal slashes across your back. By all rights, you shouldn't have been able to stand, let alone walk, but the Entity does not allow its guests to grow weak enough to be unable to participate.

Your new comrades looked at you with less than what you had expected. Most simply nodded, a few even seemed impressed that you'd made it back at all. One spoke up with a simple question, "So, how was your first go-around?"

The woman who had spoken was named Meg. An athlete like yourself, you naturally had a kindred bond with them, someone you could relate to coming in.

"Holy Hell! What the fuck is going on here? I am in so much pain right now, you wouldn't believe!" you shouted, the stress pouring over your lips from the crippling agony.

"Yeah, I think we'd all believe to be honest, new girl. What was your name again?" she asked. Must not be good with names.

"(Y/N)." you answered to her. "Now, how am I going to see a doctor about all this?"

Another voice rose from the crowd, a black woman wearing an herbalist's uniform and hair tied in a bun. "The closest thing to a doctor here is me, but the Entity will see to your wounds. Before your next trial, you'll be right as rain."

You weren't sure whether to feel good about that or not, since this would be a regular occurrence now, coming back to this fire covered in your own blood and barely able to limp your way through the foggy land.

True to her word, you began to feel better only after about ten minutes, and you didn't even have scars to show off for it. Bummer. People were going and coming for a while, but you weren't interested in chatting it up with the others right now. The words from the killer, whom Ace mentioned was called "The Spirit", rose to the forefront of your mind. Yeah, you had escaped, but how would that be dishonorable? Wouldn't it be more honorable to help everyone try and go home? Crazy Japanese bitch probably been here so long she got brainwashed or something. That's gotta be it. How many more of these people were there anyway? Would they all be so aggressive and scary? Maybe you could try talking to one of them, see if they know anything you don't. Of course, that'd require actually getting close enough to talk, which would be a risk that rattled you to the core. You weren't sure if you could pull it off.

Breaking you out of your thoughts was the cawing of crows above you. Your eyes drifted upwards, a murder of crows gathered on the trees overhanging your spot at the fire, staring at you with red, beady eyes.

You were already learning what that meant. Another trial so soon. You sighed and stood up, preparing for the inevitable shift in scenery. You could only pray to whatever gods reached this place that it'd be somewhat easier than the first go around.

Upon arrival, the first thing you saw was more bamboo stalks, reaching high above your stature. Your stomach tightened, thinking you'd been brought back to the homestead of the Spirit, but then were gripped by an even more powerful, desperate fear. Fear of the unknown. Though this place had bamboo signature to her home, no houses were in sight. Only the looming shape of what appeared to be a Buddhist temple stood tall and proud above all, the roof gone and the walls decimated, surrounded by statues of the Buddha. You began to walk through the tall grass and bamboo shoots, young and fragile, to get to the generator light just behind a cracked and broken stone wall.

Nobody came to assist you this time, so this generator was taking a lot longer than you thought it would. You'd barely gotten started before you heard the sound of a painful grunt coming from across the arena. It put you on edge, to be honest. The sound wasn't totally human, as if another creature were also present along with whomever got hurt. Your hands began to sweat, causing your fingers to slip onto one of the gears, knocking it out of place and making a loud clanking sound. You rushed to force it back into position, then froze. Your heartbeat began to get heavier, more audible, as the sound of heavy footsteps stomped into the ground, heading directly towards you. You slunk into a heavy patch of bamboo shoots behind a rock and hoped you'd go undetected.
