Jahanara wore the clothes women were no longer allowed to wear.
She was well-educated and became known for her knowledge of the Qur'an and Persian literature.
Jahanara never married, and knew she never would all her life, as it was forbidden for Mughal princesses to wed. Jahanara is rumoured to have asked her father to lift this law, but it never happened. And the ruthless Aurangzeb would certainly never let the law be sanctioned, even if Jahanara was the Empress of Princesses.
