Second Chance

Chapter 1: Not dead

"Why live? Why live if Im not happy? Why live if theres no one that loves me? The only person that did was taken away... Just like everything else... " he said while looking at the clear sky. There were tears in his eyes, but he was crying quietly.He was 17 years old. He was tall and had a fair body. His body wasn't either weak or strong. His hair was brown and his eyes green. His skin was the color of caramel. "Im alone. This pain and sorrow only has one solution... Death. There is only one thing nobody has taken away. Life. But if nobody does, I will. This is my end. Mason's end."

He was standing on the edge of a cliff. He jumped without hesitating, to what would seem a sure death. As his body fell he closed his eyes. He could feel his body fall and his heart beat get faster by the second. He could feel the wind and the sun on his skin. Suddenly he fell in water. His eyes opened instantly he and couldn't believe it. He was alive. But he still was trying to commit suicide. So he tried drowning himself. But he could breathe in the water. He was scared and confused. "This doesn't make any sense!" he thought.

He had landed on a little lake. Luckily he had landed close to the shore. He swims until he gets there and gets out of the lake. "What the heck! Why am I dry?! This is stupid! This is just a crazy dream, my mind must be playing tricks with me." He was getting frustrated because of all the weird things happening. He took a look around and he saw two men facing the other way. They were a little further ahead. There was a brick road that leaded to them. They had an armors like knights, and swords. In the background you could see a forest. The path went through the forest. "Weirdest dream ever"

He started to walk to them and call them. They turned to him with surprised looks on their faces. One thing was for sure, they weren't happy. "What are you doing there this lake off limits! You are under arrest!" one of them screamed as he ran to Mason. Mason's body freezed and stopped running. Suddenly the guard stopped as well as he ran. His eyes opened wide, like they were about to pop out, and he stared at Mason. "What the fuck" Mason said as he saw this. The guard dropped to his knees and then fell to the floor. He had an arrow in his back. Mason got even more scared and stared at the fallen guard like his life depended on it. You could see the fear in Mason's eyes. They were just like the guard's a few moments ago, right before life was knocked out of him. His teammate suffered the same death. This time the arrow had a note. Mason slowly walked up to it and picked it up slowly as he trembled. For some reason he was afraid of death once again. He had forgotten that he wanted to die, actually now he wanted to live this "crazy dream".

"Drop any weapons and walk into the forest. Just follow the path. Keep walking and you will find a chair. All you have yo do is sit on it. Then you will see us. Try anything funny and we will kill you." he read.

Mason followed the instructions and he sat on the chair. He was hoping to meet the person who saved him. Or the persons, he was a little confused. A girl came out of the forest. She was tall and had white skin. Her hair was brown and her eyes were hazel. She was what a guy would call hot. When Mason saw her he was astonished. "Who are you?" she asked. He took some seconds until the words came out of his mouth. "My name is Mason." he answered slowly as he was still surprised by her beauty. "Why are you here and what do you want?" she asked looking at his eyes seriously. He felt like she knew something about him. "Im here by... accident. And I don't want anything..." He was remembering the reason he got there, but he tried to get it off his mind for now. "Damn it. I cant look into her eyes... Im too ashamed to talk about it. When she looks at me its like she already knows..."he thought. She kept looking at him in the eyes, like she was searching for something. Mason looked up at her. When they had eye contact he couldn't bear it for more than a second and he looked away again. "My name is Veronica." She turned around and looked into the forest. "And this is Katy, my twin sister." Another girl the same age came out too. She was blond and had hazel eyes as well. She was also attractive. "Nice to meet you two. And thanks for saving me back there..." They both smiled looking at him. "Don't worry about it. Just be thankful you were lucky we were around just now. Who knows what they would have done to you..."said Katy with a depressed voice. There was a brief moment of silence. Both sisters looked sad and troubled."Yeah... Who knows? But thanks anyways." Mason said trying to start a conversation and get them out of their thoughts, which he knew weren't happy. "You're welcome."

"Where are we?" Mason asked as he looked around. "This is the forest of this land. We are in the south part."
Veronica answered him. "This part is owned by the king. His castle is in the west. Then the east part is the land of the trolls. And in the north is Maga's castle. And here in the south is the lake and the Spirit's cave." Mason paid a lot of attention and had many questions but the thing that bothered him the most was the cave. "Whats that 'spirit cave' about?" Veronica and Katy exchanged looks. "Should we tell him?" Katy asked her in a low voice. "Im right here" he said with an irritated voice. They both gave him a cold look and he understood clearly so he just remained quiet. Veronica nodded at Katy. "Mason, we have powers." Mason looked at them trying not to laugh. "Oh really? What is it?" he asked sarcastically. A sword appeared on Katy's hand in a second from nowhere. Mason was shocked. He couldn't believe his eyes. "But thats... impossible..." Then Katy threw the sword up and it disappeared in mid air. Mason watched closely, like a kid watching his favorite superhero, but worst. "My power is to appear things and Veronicas is to disappear them. Our powers can work as a great team." They looked at Mason's face and started to laugh. "What is so funny?" "Nothing..." Veronica answered giggling. He looked at them curiously. "So... What does this have to do with the cave?" They get serious again. "We got our powers there. Maybe you can get some too..." Katy and Veronica looked at each other with grins on their faces.
