Should humans be allowed to exist in world where the supernatural reign supreme? I constantly ask myself this and how the gods came to make us human beings. My name is Miroki Sagawa and simply put, I hate society due to the stupid arguments caused by magic and religion and factional standing. My parents are demon hunters and they say that I was born to slay these infernal beings because I've killed three archdemons. I was taught everything I know from magic defense to advanced combat and its proved more than useful for obvious reasons as I was a demon hunter. Besides that I don't socialize at all and I'm typically invisible to the world, I devote all my time to my studies of demon slaying and natural non-paranormal academics. I snapped out of self thought and realized how hard it was raining in the middle of March and it was only six in the afternoon. I was home watching the news, but quickly got bored and changed it. I proceeded to move and take a shower but before I could I was stopped by an emergency text from my mom saying "lock the doors and windows quick" so I rushed downstairs, grabbed my sword and locked the entrance to the apartment. Soon after I heard loud banging on the door but it stops, continues then stops again. I stand there calmly and wait for some horrific being to pounce through the door. The door knob jerks violently and I hear the tumbler in the door unlock. In an instant the door is opened and forward a red demonic vessel with a crimson red skin and a magic aura to match crawls through slowly then stands on its legs with spikes pushing out of its arms and hands and legs. Only one word popped in my head and that word was the only word to describe it but I didn't dare speak it and risk aggravating it. For a second it simply glares at my and snarls then crawls up the wall and hangs upside down without saying a word or making a disgusting sound. I stare at it with my hand anxious to draw my sword and kill this manifestation of hell without a second thought but there is a chance that it is simply in the wrong apartment. Demons weren't the brightest flame and certainly weren't the best at taking directions with few being exception to this but this one was a Pouncer: an agile and speedy demon with sharper claws than wits and attacks as fast that are only matched by its speed to assume that someone is a Holy Being which I was not. The Pouncer casually landed on the floor after making its way to my ceiling, scratching it the whole way and started climbing and scratching the furniture. It growled again but my baby blue eyes simply watched while my mind waited and my body prepared for it to leap and attack me. I couldn't be prepared enough because before I knew it I was on the floor with my sword in a demon's mouth and that demon trying to bite and claw my face off. "Enough!" a deep raspy voice commanded and with said command the Pouncer had slowly crawled its way to its red-cloaked leader and scratched the couch on the way back on purpose to spite me. The figure emerged from its cloak and revealed a tall, muscular and tanned figure seemed to burst from the cloak the way he threw it off. "We are looking for a boy who is your height" he paused to stare at me and continued "your age and just maybe-" "It's him Kazaru, it's him I say. I smell the magic pouring from this child's body." interjected the Pouncer as he climbed around and smiled at the man name Kazaru. "Sorry to inform you demonic buffoons but I can't even cast a basic spell so if you would be so kind as to try and find someone else to kill that'd be very appreciated". They stared for a second after I tried to dissuade them from staying but they laughed, then Kazaru took a large step forward and said "Try? You must not understand who I am but you certainly aren't in any position to make threats or make us leave so you should take a step back before you say something you'll regret".
My eyes shifted to the Pouncer up on the staircase then back to Kazaru but while I was distractingly gazing at the lesser problem, Kazaru had appeared in my face and proceeded to grab me by my pale neck and choke me with his right hand. "So what was that about trying kid? The situation looks like I could just squeeze a bit harder and you would break." He pulled his face back in a sort of disgust then grimaced and choked me a bit harder. I was losing my breath and began moving around and tried to pry him free but it was to no avail. Something was different about him, I could kill Archdemons and yet here some demon warrior is choking me and I can't do a thing. Kazaru released me and I fell to the floor gasping and hacking up spit. I was forced down roughly by a boot on the back of my head but it was simply keeping me down without the squeezing pressure I felt from his hand around my neck earlier. "Get it now weakling, I'm not like those pathetic demons you've killed before, I am on a whole new level from those idiots and to quite honest, Lucifer's whole new army is fitted to raise hell from the ground up. But there is still one part missing to our army and that would be the Gem Child and it just so happens that your that child so either come with us or I break his arms and legs then drag him with me".
Here I was with a boot on my head and no way out but on top of that this idiot was accusing me of being some mythical child but last time I checked I was just a human demon hunter. I had no time to think before I was punted up against the doorway with a serious force that slammed me into it and shattered pieces off of it. I could feel newly formed streams of blood begin to pour down from my face past my now ruffled crescent blonde bangs. Kazaru had slowly approached me and slammed me against the wall with his hands which had shattered the entire doorway and sent me into the hallway and rolling down half a flight of stairs. I felt more blood come from my head and new streams come my shoulders and mouth but my anguish and pain was only matched by my disappointment. I was disappointed in myself for being powerless and too weak to stop him. I tried to hold onto the railing but my arms were to weak and they slipped back onto the wooden stairs as my vision became a little blurry. Kazaru and his demon Pouncer friend had come closer and were laughing at me but not for long before Kazaru had picked my almost lifeless body and dragged me by my hair to a nearby window that was wide and over looked the concrete on the sidewalk twenty stories down. For once I was scared and there was no one to save me. Not my parents, not my probably deceased Guardian so I was on my own. I was slammed through the window and held out by the same strands of hair that Kazaru gripped with caution as not to drop me and kill me however he still jerked me about then tossed me at the wall behind him and I felt my spine crack in six places violently. "Are you done resisting me Gem Child or do I need to persuade you further to ensure your cooperation?" I sat straight up against the cracked wall with my head looking down at my bloodied and probably broken arms. Kazaru approached and looked down at me with anger the gave me a soft tap with the tip of his boot and held me up by an arm which had gone numb. "What is it going to be Gem Child? Give up or do you need more broken bones?" He had dropped me and his offer rang in my migraine rocked head as I grabbed his armor that only got blurrier as I stood higher and coughed a heap of blood on the floor. My mouth, like the rest of my body could barely move and it was only through the thought of imminent death and willpower that I smirked and told Kazaru "Go ahead and kill me demon because I am not joining your pathetic cause to let the demon race reign over humanity. Also, if you think for a second that I'm joining your then you can tell your King Lucifer that the Gem Child said to go and fu-"
The last thought I could've possibly had was interrupted by a swift toss that jerk my body that flung me to the ceiling, back down and another to toss me through the broken doorway and flung through an untouched piece of wall into my apartment and I landed with a loud rumble that took any air from my lungs and kept it from entering back into them. To my surprise I wasn't dead nor unconscious but I was broken all over head to toe. "Miroki!" cried a shrill voice that came from a light skinned brunette that rushed to my side and helped me sit up and she held me close. Her name was Katie and she was a high-school friend a year younger than me at sixteen years old. I caressed her right cheek and weakly frowned and told her "run before they hurt you too or I can't forgive myself" but she stayed and cried on me then clenched her fist and stood up and faced Kazaru. "Hey jackass, I have no idea who your but you hurt Miroki and that is something I can't accept so get ready cause I'm about crack your fucking spine!". Her approach was only an angry strut as she struck Kazaru clean in the nose but he didn't even flinch despite the small trickle of blood. The Pouncer had grabbed her and pierced her stomach deep with his claws and she fell back a small distance away from Kazaru who was about five feet away from me. I felt an anger well up and I tightened my blood soaked hand as I stood up, using my knee as support but my hand slipped and I was put on my knees. Kazaru simply watched as I crawled to the couch and stood, blood-soaked from head to toe with more broken bones inside my body then open wounds. I looked back at Katie and gritted my teeth and slowly hobbled my way to her and picked her up after kneeling for a second. "Katie" I murmured, tears beginning to stream down my face and I placed her lifeless body on the couch I had used as support, but flipped the covers so she wouldn't get more blood on her. With the injured Katie out of immediate harm's way and the image of her getting impaled by the Pouncer was fresh in my mind, I turned all of my attention to Kazaru. My hands shook, my blood boiled and my heart raced faster and faster until my vision had blacked out for a second. When my vision was restored, I was hovering in the air with a luminescent glow surrounding me that was colored a pure golden yellow on my left half and a raven black glow on my right half. Beyond my body were swords, ethereal in form that shared the same colored glow as the half they resided on. Four swords with two on each side and magic coursing through them. Magic? Magic was supposed to be lost to everyone except the government lackies or descendants of ancient mages so why was I allowed to do any of this. My wounds were healed, Katie was standing up, grasping her stomach and looking in some awkward mixture of amazement and fear. Out of all of this this I only understood that Kazaru knew exactly what was going on and I planned to learn what he did one way or another.
