“My earliest memory is of being in the crib. Staring and staring at the ceiling waiting for someone
to come. I don't know why I'm telling you this now except you have the kind of face that care… My
life was something that most of the human being had. But it had a uniqueness that no one had. It was
in my own childhood those wonderful days filled with innocence, smiles, and tears. I’m going to share
my treasured memories with you, James… I feel sorry that I haven’t told you about this.” Said Axel to
his friend while sitting on the terrace.
It all began in school at the age of twelve, when Axel and James were wandering in the corridors with
a chocolate cake in their hands during the break. After eating the cake completely, even the crumbs,
James suggested playing ball catching and both of them separated to each end of the ground. Axel fell
down while trying to catch the ball and hurt himself. A girl interfered and helped him to walk towards
the infirmary.
After several days, Axel found out the girl’s name who helped him before. Her name was Luna, a girl
from the other class. So, he went to thank her. Thereafter, Axel never bothered about that girl.
Two years later, Axel and Luna were in the same class. They began to speak amiably, day after day;
Axel started to feel something special in her.
Axel said to James:
“I have a lot of memories with her. I don’t know if I’ll be able to remember everything but I have a lot
which will last eternally, even after my death as memories.”
“Luna uses sometimes my pen to write her lessons. Unfortunately, my pen had some leakages, so she
cleans up her fingers with a piece of paper. Me, having attraction towards her; preserved the paper in
which her fingerprints were present. I’m still keeping the pen that she used; I still have a notebook
where her handwriting is present…”
“Eventually, I’ve been crazy but all those little things that I did were making me more jubilant. Often,
I’ve noticed that she talks to me very well when she’s in her blue dress. She was nice with me; I’m not
sure if I’m just prattling but I’m saying things which sensed to me.”
“Don’t expect too much James. Things didn’t last for long. It was merely for a half-year. When I
shared my feelings to my other friend who misinterpreted it and rushed away and told it to Luna. After
that everything went scattering to me.”
“Like always, I was sitting next to her during an English class. The whole class, she kept ignoring me.
That hurt me a lot. Afterwards, she threw me a letter and indicated with her eyes that the letter was for
me before leaving. I returned home with it. Filled with perplexity and uncertainties, I opened the
letter… That moment has been crucial in my life. There was written: “I know that you love me! But Idon’t really like you…” Then on the backside, a phrase which was repeated five times; In a bigger size
with an orange inked-pen: “I hate you!” There was her signature too. By reading that letter, my mind
just went blank for some minutes. And my heart scattered into pieces, and I cried a lot. I don’t want to
make this boring, and maybe you’ll think that this kind of things happen to everyone, but it was really
agonizing.”
“Hence, I’ve encountered a lot of awkward moments. One of my classmates used to make me livid by
shouting out her name. Also, once he has pulled off my pants in front of Luna to make me ignominious. But the only thing that remained unchanged: Ignorance. That hurt me like burning to
death. Therefore, she went out of the state for a different school. I’m living with these sorrowful
memoirs too. Regardless, I still have that rebuff letter, plasticized!”
James went down to the room without telling a word.
“Why are you speechless?” Asked Axel while running towards him.
“I don’t really know what to tell Axel. I never knew you had feelings for a girl this deep. But all I can
tell you now is to just forget the past and move on. Nothing is important more than you. Just work
hard for your future, and things will get better.” Expressed James.
Afterwards, the next day James left the country considering he had just come to visit Axel.
Several years passed away, Axel still couldn’t get rid of Luna’s memories. Slowly, he began to spend
his time with his new friends.
Axel and his companions decided to go on for a tour, to a hill station. They stayed in a room then went
on for hiking. Axel had a delightful experience but still has a titchy thought about Luna. Nonetheless,
Axel and his fellow mates registered some aesthetic moments by taking pictures in a picturesque
scenery. After returning to home, Axel contacted his comrade James and told him that he forgot about
her, and relished the tour. By hearing that James was ecstatic.
Axel asked James if he is free because he wanted to visit him.
“Why? Axel Why? Why this sudden decision? Stumbled James.
“Nah, just casually, its been a long time my friend” said Axel.
Axel reached his house the next day. James on the other side welcomed him anxiously. Axel saw a
picture on the wall with a baby and asked if it was his. James was nervous and nodded his head. And
asked sorry for not telling about his marriage. Axel laughed and said that wasn’t a big deal; Then
asked about his wife. James immediately fell onto Axel’s feet and asked sorry and aid that he betrayed
him. Axel was confused. James called his wife who was Axel’s childhood love. Axel has put a wry
smile on his face and left his home.
