I walked up to bus number 25. School was going to be hard for me. I didn't even fit in at my old school. I was there for eight years.
I dragged myself up the steps wondering around a find the perfect seat. No one would bother talk to me anyways, so I would need a good place to read.
I stumbled upon a warm looking seat towards the middle of the bus. I sat down and placed my backpack next to me. The bus started up again and stopped about fifty feet later. I looked out the window curiously.
The boy I saw yesterday in his room walked up to the bus. The brown hair and big blue eyes. I could already tell that he was a part of the popular group. I didn't bother try to say hi, knowing I would just embarress myself.
Then I thought again. I have never met any of these people or seen any of them in my life. I have a full blank slate. If I wanted to survive highschool, I would have to be decently popular.
Going to a private school made me think of appearence. Preppy was the style around here. I quickly tightened my tie and braided my hair into a french braid. Locking the whispy hair around my face away behind my ears.
I pulled out my phone and popped in some ear buds just as the boy passed me. As he passed me stopped and turned around. Oh no, he was going to yell at me or something. Was I in his seat? I had no way telling.
"I've never seen you around," he said. The lump in my throat quickly faded away.
I smiled, "I am new here."
He looked at me again, "I've seen you before." I almost told him we were neighbors but then he would think I was following him, "Are you, Kori?" he asked.
"Yeah."
"then your my new neighbor, I'm Hayes." he said holding out his hand.
I shook it, "Cool," I mumbled pulling my hand away. Hayes sat in the seat behind me, I'm hoped that's where he always has sat. I pulled out my reading glasses and put them on. People usually don't see me with them, unless I'm in class.
I strumbed the pages of the new book I pulled out. It was a gift from my old teacher in Rhode Island. I got to page nine when we stopped again. I put my book away and typed away on my phone agian. Haye's and I were probably the first stops, because it seemed no one else was on. Or everyone was just too rich to ride the bus.
I looked out the window finding a girl with short blonde hair. She wore the uniform the same way I did, which was good.
Next to her was a boy that looked exactly like her. Twins. They had to be popular and friends with Hayes. I knew I was going to be in an awkward spot, so I turned around.
"How is the neighborhood pool?" I asked trying to be realated to what we just had talked about five minutes ago.
"Great! They have a high dive and a slide..." Hayes was cut off by the blonde girl.
"Hayes! Who's your friend?" she asked.
"Oh this is..."
"Kori, I just moved in yesterday." I said wanted to sound independant and not relying on someone to make my every move.
The girl sat down in the seat next to me and her brother sat behind her (next to Hayes), "Cool, I'm Tara and that's Josh." she said pointing to her brother. Tara took out her phone.
"OMG! Look at this, exactly 50,000 likes!" she exclaimed blocking me out. I looked at the phone seeing a picture of her and Hayes at some football game. The picture looked like it came from Haye's account. What he really that popular? No, (I laugh) he couldn't be.
