Chapter 1

When I first saw her she was running down the street with a devious smile on her face. I couldn't help but stare at her she had brilliant mint green eyes and really long hair that was in a messy pony tail from running. Than a very pail girl about the same age came and grabbed her hand and they embraced each other. My two older brothers called my name and broke me out of my train of thought.

later that night I couldn't get her out of my head her amazing eyes and her long hair...no! I than walked on to the balcony of my second story room, it was also on the very edge of the house next to the other houses balcony that belonged to a family that mostly lived on a very large boat but came to live there when ever the winter came. the two balconies looked over a forest I remember when me and Devin were younger and things were not so complicated when we would go over to the forest behind our house and go to our secret treehouse that we would make plans to make a village in the woods.

"Those were the days" I said mostly to my self but partly to the woods.

...It always seemed to have a life of its own to me and my brothers it was where we played where we cried or ran for comfort that it gave like a loving mother. 

"Ya those were the days." s familiar voice said 

I jumped and whirled around to see my oldest brother devin he was 17 and a senior in highschool. He went to lean on the balcony alone side me. looking out with an envious look that only came to his features when he looked off into the forest.

he sighed and looked at me "Do what you want now because now no one can judge you...it is when you are most free and can do more than a child but have less responsibility than an adult,ok"" Well enough of this negative talk mom and dad are home for the remainder of the week before they have to go back for treatment" "You should come and talk with them" 

With saying that. He left to let me get ready.

I look into my room and see paper strewn every where i had to be a 4.0 average student for my mom and dad would be furious so...I had to have paper and notes strun about. I looked at my cork board and it had a digital camera on it. I wanted to be a photographer but... my parents have other plans for me.

I walk down stairs and go into the living room where my family spent the little time we had together in. mom sat on the couch she was pail slight and weak but that came with her illness the doctors say it is a genetic ene and they do not have a cure for it. me and my brothers will get it when we are older. my father is sitting next to my mom reading his favorite book. Meanwhile Nate ,the middle child,is trying but failing at annoying devin who is working on his computer on the opposite couch as mom and dad.

"It's about time you came to visit with us" My mother says weakly.

I attempt to smile at her but seeing her in such a weak state hurts. Devin on more than one occasion caught me crying over the balcony over it. I..just can't get over the fact that I'm going to lose my mother. I never saw her that much but it doesn't change anything. Devin tries to comfort me many a times that I have to have faith in the doctors that they will find a cure in time. She than smiled back and patted the empty spot next to her. I did go sit next to her but i also hugged her gently like she was a hundred year old porcelain-doll. She started to hum an old melody and I Started to feel my self slip into unconsciousness.
