The next morning I woke up and made myself a bagel with peanut butter for breakfast. I was feeling lazy and didn’t want to put any effort into making something. Once I had finished making the coffee, Madison finally came out of her room.
“How was last night?” I asked.
“Fun. The girls and I met a couple of cute guys, they bought us drinks, but that was it.” She poured herself a cup of coffee and sat next to me at the table. “Anything fun happen to you last night?” She asked.
“Not so much fun as interesting.” I said.
“Really? What happened?’
“Before I left, I met Ashley Purdy.”
Her jaw dropped and she just stared at me for a minute. I started waving my hand in front of her face.
“Hello, Earth to Kimberly .” That seemed to snap her out of it.
“Did you get an autograph or a picture or something?” She asked.
“Nope.”
“What do you mean ‘nope’? Why not?” She looked at me as if I had gone crazy.
“Because he hit on me.” I explained.
“And that’s a bad thing why?”
“You know my morals. I didn’t want to be a one night stand that he would forget about in the morning. I have more dignity than that.”
“Right, morals. The things that keep you from screwing possibly the hottest man in existence.” She deadpanned.
“Kimberly !” I swatted her arm.
“What? He is!”
“Yeah, well I like them older.” I said.
“You mean you like them dead, or attractive about thirty or forty years ago.”
“Not my fault all of the hot men are old now. There just aren’t any attractive guys around these days.”
“Wow. Well who do you find sexy? Name three and I can probably name three younger, hotter guys.” She said.
“Fine. Humphrey Bogart.”
“Dead.”
“Hey, he was the Johnny Depp and Tom Cruise of the 40s.”
“Exactly.”
“Leonard Nimoy.”
“Old.”
“I don’t care. Spock is hot.”
“Next.”
“Christopher Lee.”
“Old, really old.”
“Once again, I don’t care. I love Dracula and his is the best ever, and he was really hot back then.”
Okay, my turn.” She said. “Orlando Bloom, Adam Levine and Alexander Skarsgard.” She looked at me triumphantly.
“Whatever. Here is where I say, to each her own.” I put away my dishes and went to get dressed for work. I worked in an art studio and my shift started in an hour.
It was Saturday again and Kimberly was begging me to go out to the club with her again. “Why should I go?” I asked. Seriously, how many Saturday nights could we spend there?
“Ashley might be there.” She cooed.
“Another great reason not to go.” I said.
“Come on! You had fun last week.”
“Yeah, until a man whore tried picking me up at the bar.”
“I think you’re be a little overly dramatic. From what you told me all he got the chance to do was use a pick up line. Then you left. It doesn’t count unless you actually let him flirt.”
“Oh? Are there rules now?” I asked.
“Yes. And since your main reason for not going is now proven invalid, you have to come with me. Now get dressed.” She was already in a tight dress and heels, her make up done up and everything.
I relented and got into an off the shoulder t-shirt and jeans. When I got to the door she looked me up and down. “Really Brittany ?”
“What? I’m going to dance with you, not to seduce a guy and drag him back to the apartment.”
“Wouldn’t that be a sight to see.” She wiggled her eyebrows at me.
“God! You are so messed up!” I said.
“But you love me anyway.”
I gave her a shove and we headed out once again.
Madison headed straight for the dance floor and found a couple of friends to dance with. I headed to the bar where I ordered my usual drink. A couple of minutes later I heard that voice again.
“Nice to see you came back.” Ashley said as he sat beside me.
“Well it wasn’t for you if that’s what you were thinking.” I said.
“I’m hurt. Was I really that bad?” He asked.
“No, you just have a reputation.” I said bluntly.
“You know who I am?” He asked.
I held up my BVB pentagram necklace, looking bored.
“Well now I’m at a disadvantage, you know my name, but I don’t know yours.”
“Don’t plan on finding out.” I said.
“Really? Are you that cold?”
“No. Just smart.” I replied.
“I see, still won’t give me a chance.” He said.
I laughed. “Yeah, only because I have no interest in going home with you tonight.”
“So what if we didn’t?”
“What?”
“I said, so what if we didn’t?” He repeated.
I finished my drink. “I can’t believe my ears. Are you sure about that?” I asked.
“Sure.”
“You know it means you won’t get laid right?”
“I know.” He said. “I want to see how things go with you.”
“Really? When you could have practically any other girl in the room. You would forego sex to spend some more time with me?”
“Yes.” He smirked. There went all the sincerity in that statement.
I didn’t want to sleep with him, but he was making some sort of effort. Besides, who said I had to see him after tonight? “Fine. You can walk me home.”
“All right then.” He nodded.
“I’ll just let my friend know I’m leaving.” I found Kimberly talking to Aille again.
“I’m heading home.”
“Already? But nothing fun has happened yet.”
“I’m being escorted, that should be enough fun for one night.” I said.
“You’re walking home with a stranger? What has happened to the Belle I know and love?” She asked dramatically.
“It’s Ashley.” I said.
“Ashley! Do you mean THE Ashley?”
“Yes, THE Ashley.” I laughed at the look of shock on her face.
“Okay, but don’t break anything.” She winked.
“Eww! God no! Brittany !” I walked away before she could put any other disturbing ideas into my head. I still had a disgusted look on my face when I walked up to Ashley.
“Am I really that hard to look at?” He asked.
“No. My Sister just has a perverted mind. She just gave me some images I wish I never had.”
“Okay then.”
“Let’s go.” We headed for the door and started walking towards the apartment.
“So how long have you been a fan of Black Veil Brides?” He asked.
“About three years.” I answered. “I really love Fallen Angels, it’s a great metaphor. I wish you guys had been around when I was in high school.”
“Well, I’m glad to hear that.” He said.
We reached the apartment. “I think I can take it from here.” I turned to open the door.
“Hey! I never got your name.” He sad.
“Brittany .” I left him there and went up to the apartment I share with Kimberly and immediately fell onto my bed.
