I read the sign as we finally enter into town , "Welcome to Nowhere , population two hundred and three." Were about thirty minutes into Nowhere when I look to my left and see a cave. It was beautiful. It was the most mouth dropping thing I've seen since my dad and I gotten here. As we pass the cave I can feel myself getting upset again. "I know these two years have been hard and I know your not thrilled about moving here but can you please try and make the best of things."
"Sure."
My great grandpa (that I've never met before) passed away and gave my dad his house. I've seen pictures of the house and then I look at this town and I don't get it. My grandpas house was the only thing that looked alive , besides the trees. It was a dream house to a dull town.
We finally arrive at 2696 Lobue Lane. The house still looked in good condition except for the peach paint chipping off and the cracked window. Dad and I quickly start to unpack. We didn't have much considering we only lived in a two bedroom apartment before. Within two and a half hours we have the house together. I check the time and it's only 5 o'clock. I grab my jacket and head for the door. "Row , where are you going?"
"To try and make the best of things."
"Okay uh be back -" I cut him off with the slam of the door.
I remember seeing this hill that over looked the cave , it was only a few blocks down on the left. As I make my way up the hill I see the sun trying to fight it's way out. According to my dad this town didn't get a lot of that which was a complete change for two people coming from Arizona. So I figure I might as well soak up as much as I can. I sit down , close my eyes and try to relax. I can feel the wind , the luscious green grass through my fingers , and the warmth of the sun hitting my cheeks.
"Nice weather isn't it , we don't really get that here in Nowhere" I give him a curious yet not pleasant look. "I'm Graham Green-bridge -" he flashes me a smirk "and your Rowan Blake , nice to meet you." He reaches his hand out. How did he know my name? "It's a small town , people talk" without a word I get up and walk away. I look around the neighborhood my hardest for anything interesting. Surprise! I found nothing. So I sit on this bench that looks like it's been sat on by a sumo wrestler. I watch everyone go on with their day until I realize it's nine thirty. God , I can't wait for the pleasant welcoming I'm going to get from my dad when I get home. I finally get home around nine fifty with the greeting of dads yelling.
"Where were you!?"
"Hell"
"Dinner starts at eight so I expect you here at eight!"
"Why it was never important to you while mom was dying or even before that!" Dead silence struck the room.
"I expect you here at eight." He walks to his room not even looking at me. I know I've hurt him. I walk to my room mad at him and now myself.
