Okay, so this short story I wrote for class awhile ago, but I didn't really like it at first. I kinda like it now. I wanted to add more to the story, but I didn't. So this is a horror story, I guess. I suck at writing horror, but I tried. Also, sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes. I hope you like it!
There he is. Just across the street from me lives the most perfect man I have ever met. I get butterflies in my stomach just seeing him. He's reading a book on his porch, slowing sipping his steaming coffee. He looks so quiet and peaceful. Must be nice. He places his coffee onto a table as the cold autumn breeze brushes back his dark chocolate hair, revealing his gorgeous green eyes. Maybe I should go talk to him. He'll be so excited to see me. He'll probably jump out of his chair and give me the biggest hug ever! I dust off my dress before skipping to his house. I pause before walking into his view. What should I say to him? "Hey cutie, it's been a while." No, no, no! Don't do that! I face-palm myself for my stupidity. Just talk to him like a normal person would. I walked up to him and plastered on my best smile.
"Hi, I'm Kira. I just moved in from across the street." I say.
He shot his gaze to me with wide eyes. "Kira!" He repeats.
"Oh, my God! Peter!" I squeal before lunging myself to him. He slightly flinches at my embrace.
"Wow! I haven't seen you in so long. Two years right?" I ask, although I already know the answer.
"Yeah, two years," Peter sighs. "How are you?"
Lonely I want to say, but I know I shouldn't. "Pretty good. How 'bout you?"
"Good." He answered. An awkward silence fell over us. "Umm, I like your hair." He says, staring at my crimson hair.
"Really? I think it brings too much attention," I smile, loving the attention. I can tell that Peter is feeling uncomfortable, so I quickly end the conversation. Although I want to stay beside him. "Oh, before I go, can I ask you something really quick?" I request. He nods. "Would you like to hangout sometime? Maybe get some coffee and catch up?"
"Sure. That sounds nice," His lips curve into a cute smile. He hands me a piece of paper with his new phone number. We say our goodbyes as I stroll back to my new home.
I've been living here for a little more than a week now and I don't talk to Peter as much as I want to. He's a bit awkward around me, although I should have expected it because he's my ex. I wish that we could be like how we were when we started dating in college. It was True Love. At least, I thought it was until Peter broke up with me. I'm hoping that I can get him to fall back in love with me again, but now I'm not so sure. He seems to be uninterested in me and avoiding me. But why? Is he seeing someone else? He doesn't seem like he is from our conversations, but I'm not sure. I pull my phone out of my pocket and call Peter. He answers after a few seconds.
"Hello?" His sweet voice flows into my ear.
"Hey, Peter!" I smile.
"Oh, hey, Kira." He sounds as if he was laughing. "What's up?"
"Nothing much. Just wanted to talk to someone," I say.
"Oh, ok."
"Hey, Peter look at- Oh, shoot! Sorry I didn't realize that you're on the phone," a female voice spoke in the background. Who's that and what is she doing in Peter's house?!
"Who's that?" I question immediately.
"Oh, that's Alex. Remember? From college?" Peter answers calmly. The phone sounds like it was taken from Peter's grasp.
