"Come on, you failure!" Jacob threw another punch, enhanced by his sigil of soundwaves, into my stomach. The impact reverberated throughout my body and sent me flying backward. I could feel my bones rattle as I landed on the ground a few feet away. "Remember your place, you worthless trash!"
"Yeah!" said Selene, blasting me with a wave of cold air from the snowflake sigil on the back of her hand. The cheers and cries of the onlookers mixed together as my vision slowly began to blur.
I screamed out in pain as Roger prepared his attack. "A worthless Sigilite like you has no place thinking he can even attempt to flirt with a Class 3 like Jeannie." He pointed his hand towards me, index finger out. "Bang." A burst of compressed air shot from his fingertips and right across my face, leaving a solid bruise.
"Leave him alone!" Jeannie cried, tears streaming down her face as she struggled against Gertrude's Chain Sigil. They were too tight for her to build up any speed and use her sigil of momentum.
"Quiet, babe," Jacob said, shrugging her off as he slowly approached me. "Everyone has a place here in this school. I'm just reinforcing that a Class 1 needs to stay in the lanes designed for Class 1." With a swift kick to my ribs, I coughed up some blood as the impact rang through my body, shaking my organs. "That's how it's been since the Beckoning. You can't blame me for keeping social order. What if we just let trash like this do whatever they please?"
"We'd have idiot Sigilites trying to do things they can't do!" Selene responded.
"That's right," Jacob said, stretching his arms out to his side like he was speaking the words of a higher being. "This is a lesson to all the Class 1 rejects out there!" He turned and slowly addressed the entire crowd. "Just give up. Never think that you're better than you are, because we, every single class higher than you, will come and remind you where you belong."
Alright. I've had enough of him sitting on his high horse. I lifted my fingers slightly, and drew a circle in the air with my finger, pulling the energy from my sigil.
Everything blurred and all the pain suddenly evaporated from my body, but the memories of it didn't.

Shit. The loop didn't send me back far enough. That's fine. I'll work with this.
"Yeah!" said Selene. She channeled her sigil and prepared to blast me with a wave of cold air from the snowflake sigil on the back of her hand, but I mustered up the strength and rolled out of the way. The cheers and cries of the onlookers mixed together as my vision slowly began to blur. "Hey!"
I screamed out in pain as Roger's attack contacted my back. "Bang!" A burst of compressed air shot from his fingertips and right into my back. If you've ever been hit by a paintball, this was like three of them at once. "A worthless Sigilite like you has no place thinking he can even attempt to flirt with a Class 3 like Jeannie."
