So honestly, I don't know where her sudden text message came from, but it was pretty straight forward:

Hey, I know that I haven't talked to you in a while, but I'm gonna call you.

All this time, I'd had her phone number, and put it in my favorites. I'd been waiting for this day to come.
I awaited her call, for a picture of her laughing face to pop up on my screen.
I had memorized her number:
(810) 767-6710
It was easy to memorize, but whatever. I always kept her close to me, just incase.
Just incase I stutter, or forget my name or hers, I always practice, just waiting for a conversation with her.

My phone rang.
I was nervous. but also excited. I went to go pick up my phone, And saw her dimpled face tilted to the side, with a strand of hair falling into her face.
I know that that probably doesn't sound attractive, but it was super cute.

I realized that I was about to miss her call, so I slid my thumb across the screen.
"Hello Jason." her voice was smooth, like she was flirting, without flirting.
Was that even possible?
"Hello Gail."
"So." she paused. then continued, "Ask away"
She knew I always questioned her methods, and her plans. But this was different, I didn't know the plan.

"Okay. Why did you wait so long? I mean we were friends, then you just stopped hanging out with me. why did you do that?" I had to ask that. That very question has been on my mind for years. That very question might be answered today.
"Well, I'd say that we're both to blame."
How was I to blame?
" Neither of us tried to hang out again after we started to drift apart. I know that you don't agree, but you could have called me, I would've picked up. Also, when you met Ben, I thought that I would never be able to live up to your standards. After Ben, I just felt like a crappy friend. So basically you finding new friends made me think that I wasn't good enough. Okay. your excuse."
I sighed a big sigh. I had no excuse.
"Uh, well I really don't have one. I wanted to have multiple friends, so I sorta just went for the same gender, I guess, and one thing lead to another and we didn't hang out." I was surprised on how well I was doing.

"Tell me the truth when I ask you this question. I can tell when you're lying.
Then I'll answer it." She replied.
"Okay, ask away."
"Did you have my contact saved as a favorite?"
Yes.
"No I didn't, I just assumed that we weren't friends" I lied.
Crap. Well that was the wrong thing to say.

"I do. I still do. Your contact was always I my favorites. Ever since I got a phone." Again she spoke smoothly, yet flirtatiously, not flirtatious.
"Okay it's getting late, I'm go--" I didn't get to finish, she basically ordered me to meet me at our secret fort, the one that we made as kids.
It was Wednesday night. I had school the next day. But I agreed, said good bye and hung up the phone.
Now, I had to pack all the stuff I thought that I might need.
Let me tell You this right now, this was going to be a long night.
