You watched your best friend skate to the other side of the goal and blow a kiss to the girl he was dating. It hurt, but you knew he was happy.
It was all that mattered to you. He was happy even though it wasn't how you wanted it.
You tried to hide the hurt but you couldn't fool your sister.
"He has a girlfriend." You reminded her.
"The other team has a goalie." She deadpanned.
"I'm not looking to "score". I'm not looking to be the other girl."
"Technically, you are the first girl."
"Just because we lost our virginities to each other doesn't mean shit."
"No but the way he looks at you means a lot."
The two of you went back to your apartment. You turned off your phone and took a bubble bath. You didn't hear from your best friend until almost a week later.
"Kaapo." You couldn't say anything more before he kissed you. "You-"
"Broke up with her. She didn't want you around anymore."
