It has been 2 weeks since my mother announced that we were moving in with her fiance that she has only known for 3 months. She told me it would be a fresh start, she told me that my room would be bigger, and I could have everything I ever wanted.

I found out a few days ago that George owns a multimillion-dollar company and we were moving into a mansion in New York City.

I didn't want my mom to marry George, or anyone for that matter. After my dad left, he took part of my mom with him and she has never been the same since. I can tell that since she has been with George, that part that disappeared is slowly reappearing. But I am just scared that George will eventually leave her, and I know that my mother can't handle another loss.

Honestly, these past two weeks I have been okay with moving, it's not like many people will miss me. In school, nobody would really talk to me because I was known to have a temper and people were jealous of how smart I was.

My closest friend was Daniel, but he moved away a couple of years ago to work in his father's business. Once he left a closed myself off, and that's when my mom got cancer.

That's when I started fighting. It helped me pay for my mom's medical bills and it helped me blow off some of my anger.

Now, I am on a plane to New York with my mother. It was one of George's private planes, and it was gorgeous. But how much I tried to get comfortable, but I couldn't. The seats were stiff and everything was white, it felt strange being in something that cost millions of dollars.

My mom felt my concern, she was always so good at seeing how I really felt over my mask I always put on.

"Honey, why do you look worried?" she asked me, resting her hand on my shoulder.

"I'm fine mom," I replied, brushing her handoff.

"Ash, sweety, don't lie to me. I know this has been hard for you and it was unexpected but I think we both needed a fresh start from everything that has happened in the past."

"Mom.." I began to say, but she interrupted me.

"I think this will be better for both of us, and I really love him Ash and he loves me too. I know that you don't trust him but I promise he cares about both of us and he can take care of us both without you needing to go and fight for money."

I was honestly startled. My mom was never supposed to never find out about my fighting. "Mom, how did you find out about that?" I asked her.

"Well, when George proposed to me, he didn't know about you and I told him. At first, he was shocked but then he smiled and said that he would protect you and love you like his actual daughter." she blabbered.

"Mom, where is this story going?" I asked.

"Well, after he found out about you he started doing his research about you because he wanted to make a good first impression. But then he found out about the illegal fighting you do, to pay for my medical bills and then he told me about it."

"Oh."

"Honey, I appreciate everything you did for me but if you told me that you were doing this, I could have found a different solution," She looked at me with sadness all over her face. "It hurt me when you can home with bruises and first I assumed you were being bullied but then I found out that you were suffering because of me."

"Mom, I did it because I wanted to help you. It was my decision, and it was not your fault." My mother cried and tears poured out of her blue eyes. I took off my seatbelt and walked over to hug my mom. As soon as I was hugging her, she took me and hugged me back.
