Prologue I: Trust Broken

My name is Penny Hawthorne, I'm the daughter of Roland Hawethorn, King of the Warriors. I'm only 13, like all the other princes and princesses of the continent. I grew up training as a Warrior in secret, see, the royal family of each Clan is not to learn of their peoples expertise. I'm now perfect in what I do, I have perfect stance, excellent sword skills and brilliant war smarts.

I had finised my training in a secret underground courtyard I had found a few years back. I was walking through the passageway when I heard a whirring noise, I spun around. I was pretty sure no one else knew about this passageway, unless someone had found it. I heard it again, it was coming from the walls, I leant onto the walls and listened. It was repetitive, it got louder and louder as I headed towards the exit. I was leaning onto the wall when I suddenly fell through it. I got up and looked around, not knowing where I was.

It was a secret passageway within a secret passageway. I followed foward, getting closer to the noise when I finally saw a room, someone was in it. I hid inside an indention of the wall and watched two people discuss something rather secretively. "The machines are working, Marcelon?" asked a rather broad, large man I could only see from behind.
"Yes, master, they can help us in our plan now," Answered an older looking man with a hunched back and a silver goatie on his chin.

There was a contraption on the desk, it was metal and had little coloured rubber ropes in it. "Excellent, when the machines are ready, we can give them to the people to help them do their jobs and they will not have to lift a single finger," said the larger of the men, "and the city will be easier for the darkness to take over."

The man turned around and I was paralyzed by shock, the man was my father. I gasped in horror, "Hello? Is anyone there?" He grabbed the hilt of his blade, he edged closer to where I was. As soon as he reached the general area, I reached out, grabbed his foot and dragged him to the floor. I snatched my father's blade off him (he doesn't really know how to use it, it's just to make him look tough) and hit him on the head with the hilt, knocking him out. I spun around to fight the man named Marcelon, but he had disappeared. I quickly grabbed the "machine" and ran.

I raced back out into the entrance hall. I raced to my room and collected a couple of things: my blade, some food, extra clothes and put them all in a messenger bag and ran for the door. I still had a little more time before my father woke up and came looking for his attaker. I ran outside into the main courtyard, I looked around to see if anyone was watching. After I confirmed no one was, I quickly took out the 2 guards inside, as the other 2 on the outside noticed what was happening, they unlocked the gate and I took them out too. I was leaving everything behind, including my trust.
