It was the year I met Anna it was also a few months before the word cancer was thought of . We were innocent and didn't have a clue what would become of us in the future years, nor did we want to. We understood what pretend playing was and we knew we hated school and we couldn't wait for recess to come around. Boys still had diseases and we still believed in the magic of the world. We were polar opposites. She had the long blonde hair with killer blue eyes while I had long black hair and emerald green eyes. I was more of the adventurer and she like the calm side. She was shy and quiet while i made sure people could understand the in depths of life. She was more into English while i loved history. Our personalities couldn't be anymore different, but it worked out nicely. We both had big dreams and we knew no one could take them away. We always seemed to know we were outcast and at that we were simply proud.

It was the first day I met Anna.
I was already on the bus before she had arrived to get on it.
I had a seat in the middle. I  had the perfect system down, I knew if I picked a seat in the back, that's where all the troublemakers were and the bus driver would always have one eye on me and I liked having my food and eatting without it being taken up. If I got the front, it was where all the people who procrastinated do homework till last minutes and wanted answers and if I went too far back then I would have to deal with the people who had popularity going for them. so right behind the procrastinators was where it was at.

I had seen Anna around school. Most of the time getting picked on. I fell bad for the poor girl. It was a said her clothes had stunk so bad that the teachers had to buy her knew clothes daily and her mother was a drunken hooker who had been on the run. How they ended up here was a question all in itself.
I could tell by how she got on the bus, she had a hard day. she threw her bookbag down and she would proudly want the seat closest to the window so I let her have it and just slid over.

"Hard day?" I asked. "You have no idea." she muttered.     "What happen?"

Mrs. Waterson decided she wanted to pair us up for the lizard project."

The lizard project was where we each got paired into to a three person group and each one would take a turn to take the lizard home and we had to keep it alive. By the end of the month one person from the group got chosen to take the lizard home and keep it.

"Yeah, I know I got Hannah and Samuel!" I remarked with a little too much happiness. So much that Anna took noticed and started to frown.   "I know, but I got stuck with Mason and Tanner!" she explamined.    "No Way!" was all I could say without chucking. "I'm going to be getting an F!" "No maybe they will be nice to you."

I felt bad for her. She got stuck with those two. Everyone in the world knew they were bad news.
We all grew up together except  for Anna and she had taken the bront of their bullying because of it.
Tanner and Mason McCoy were the twin sons of the McCoys. The outlaws of Paoli. Their family was famous for all the way from simple innocent thefts to full on murder. The boy's own father was put in prison for murdering a man that had gotten on the wrong side of the McCoys just by looking at him wrong after their mother ran off with another man and no one had heard from them since.

"By the way I'm Anna Darlson. And sorry for throwing my stuff down. I can always move. I'm good at moving." she voice shivering like I scared her.
"Oh no its totally find with me. I'm Maria Rader nice to meet you." I said then gave her a reassuring smile.
