you sighed as you walked on the sidewalk, rain pouring from the grey sky.
at least it isn't pouring..
you kept walking, trying to cover the grocery bags from the rain. your home wasn't too far away, but you were freezing and just wanted to be in your warm bed. as you continued walking, you heard the familiar sound of a car pull up next to you. you turned your head, holding your hand near your forehead to see more clearly.
it was gray, your best-friend. you knew he would ask why you were walking in the rain, and you had no clue what to say.
"hey!" he called over the rain, you smiled and waved.
"why are you walking? it's raining." he wondered, and you shrugged. "i started walking before it began to rain." was all you could think to say. he nodded, but he knew that it had been raining all day.
"well, hop in! i don't want you getting sick." he offered, and you looked away.
you didn't want him to see your home, you tried to keep him away from your personal life, which was kind of hard considering he was your best-friend. you shook your head politely and looked back at him, "i can walk, it's fine!" you reassured him and he shook his head. "y/n, i'm not letting you walk in the cold rain. it's not happening, get in the car." he pointed to the seat next to him and gave you a look. you thought for a couple minutes, if you didn't get in the car. he would get out himself and drag you into the car, so you tried to take deep breaths as you walked to the car, pulling it open and sitting next to him.
"i could've walked, but thank you." you exclaimed, and he chuckled. "i'm not going to let you walk in the rain." he muttered as he started to drive the car, "so where do you live?" he asked, and you almost wanted to tuck and roll out of the car. "um, around here. i'll tell you where to go, but you can just drop me off down the road." you told him and he sighed, "i'm taking you to your home, y/n." he settled it and you didn't know what to do. you really were too embarrassed to show him your home, and what it looked like.
"so where do i go?" he asked, and you started to tell him the directions. your heart beat got quicker as he got closer and closer to your home.
your face was red by the time you pulled up to your home, and you wanted to get out of the car so badly.
"thanks." you muttered as you grabbed your bags and got out of his car, but his hand grabbed your wrist, and you winced, not wanting to be in this situation anymore. "get back in the car." he demanded, and you shook your head, not understanding. "gray-" he pulled you in and shut the door himself.
"this-" he stopped, pointing to your house. "is why you didn't want me driving you home, isn't it?" he asked. "you didn't want me to see-" you stopped him, "that i'm poor gray, yeah. it's embarrassing." your eyes fell to your legs, and he turned off his car. he grabbed your face with both hands and looked at you, making direct eye contact with you. your heart fluttered as he leaned in closer, giving you a quick peck on the lips. you were shocked.
you always had feelings for gray, but you never realized he had them for you.
"i don't care about those things, well i do care. i want you to be healthy and unstressed, but you don't need to be embarrassed about it at all." he explained, and the fear in your chest began to calm down.
"because i love you for who you are, not for where you live." he mumbled, looking back down to your lips.
you couldn't but smile, and you leaned over to kiss him again, a little longer this time.
"i love you for who you are too."
