Night Bound

Mo' training

James quietly suffered as Kora continued moving his now reset arm. When James felt the pain lessen he knew that the "wolf factor" was starting to kick in.  The only problem was that Kora still had a hand on his "broken" arm and could feel the bone knitting back together. James quickly thought of a way to explain this weird occurrence by either blaming aliens or saying bluntly, "I heal real quick" with a smile that could wipe away any guilt.  Obviously, these defenses wouldn't work on Kora since she wasn't born yesterday to James's imagination. James decided to tell the truth instead no matter the repercussions, 

 "Okay, Kora you want to know the truth? Well, I'm not like normal people. The reason I had a broken arm was because of a man named Bryce. We used to know each other but for some reason, our friendship fell apart in the fourth grade. " James looked dejectedly to the ground and started to cry. The weight of everything had hit him again. he realized that he could never have a normal life.  He just wanted to have a normal year for once, get a girlfriend join the school football team, and possibly become team captain or something but that all seemed impossible now.  

Eventually,  James looked up from the ground and locked eyes with Kora,  Kora smiled and said to him:

"James do you really think that you're alone in this 'new' world just look around you." The wolf inside James started to get an attitude and the attitude seemed to be mutual between James and his inner wolf because James torn his arm away from Kora which he just noticed was stroking his broken arm but it didn't matter to him he was angry at everything and it just happened that Kora was just the thing to let his anger out on. 

"First off! I'm not a kid you don't have to treat me like one. And how am I supposed to feel Kora?! The person I consider my archenemy and possibly Satan incarnate, someone who I thought finally moved out of town and away from my life has strutted back in and has now whooped my ass twice! At this point, I think that I have to ask you what's so special about you because everyone in Riverview seems to be hiding something!" James took a few deep breaths to rein in his temper because he knew he was losing control over the wolf and after a few minutes where his eyes reverted from the bright red that they were back to his sea-green eyes 

Kora smiled and tilted her head her curly hair moving in the wind. She replied to the insensitive question "Well,  I think it's obvious that I am a girl but to be more specific I come from a family that hunts evil creatures " James looked at Kora trying to find if she was joking or not but seeing as she had the most deadpan look that would give even his own mother a run for her money. With that James made the mental note to not get on Kora's bad side or she might legitimately kill him.  After an uncomfortable silence, Kora spoke up,

"James I think we need to go to the library, You need to learn about the history of our town." James rolled his eyes and told Kora "Kora if you can't tell, we just got out of detention which is in school I don't really want to go back to learning."  Kora's eyes flared and James back away and the wolf inside knew it was being punished, he could feel his metaphysical tail between his legs. 

When the two teenagers got to the library they immediately went to the history section and the mythology sections respectfully.   They spent hours going over multiple books. They figured out how the first werewolf came about and when they got to the origin of a special group of people that were hired to kill all mystical creatures including ones that didn't do anything wrong.   That kind of shook James to the core and looked at Kora who gave him a sympathetic smile.  After reading about Hunters and the town's history.  James started to read about werewolves. He learned a little more about the ethereal forest and learned more about how to become stronger.  The only downside with becoming stronger is that you lose your humanity more and more. But you can become stronger if you a true alpha, true alphas come around very rarely, If someone wants to become a true alpha they have to have a strong will and being able to overcome even the worst situation.
