The book left off before Lucas could apologize to Zack's dad, so I think that Lucas will apologize then ask to be forgiven. Although Edna may not forgive him, I think that Zack most likely will. Jen is probably feeling like she is in the most uncomfortable situation ever. I am hoping that the ending will be a happy ending where all of the family members make up, but it is unlikely due to the 17 years of disowning from both parties. If they don't make up, i think that both parties will still make an effort to communicate with each other and to allow Zack to see his grandfather more often.
